I definitely agree that tempered glass on one side is legit, but I can't imagine why you would want it on the other side.  I guess if you are super proud of your cabling it might be nice, but usually there isn't that much room to make it look great, you just have to cram it all in there.

With evga barely getting it's feet wet in the case market, i still believe they need to focus on a modular case design to attract more customers.

Pay close attention to where you place fans spots to make sure none are blocked like we see on the DG-8* case
Give it a brushed aluminum look, don't go with the 1990's gray plastic look like the DG-8* case
Have a small logo, don't go over board turning the case into a tacky billboard
Come with magnetic dust filters
Power supply cover that cover the cables to give it a clean look

Optional accessories
5.25 bay drive
HDD cage
Clear side window or smoked window, if it comes with a clear one

Internal HDD are still popular for storage
SATA 6.0 > USB 3.0

Does anyone have any clue when this case might be released?

With my 1080 ti ftw3 on the way soon, I would postpone my new build and just stick the 1080 ti in my haswell build for now if i knew the wait for the DG-7 would be only a few months.

Appreciate anyone who might have insight based on past releases or any insider info.

With a front mounted AiO & 2x 140 exhaust on top n 1x on the back? You think the ti will throttle in there? I'm reluctant to get another full tower, I own a Storm Stryker, it stays pretty cool but I am ready to go trendy get the tempered glass mid tower.

There's some detail of all the similar cases that I don't like, but I'm so into this as long as I don't haveta have the numbers on the front like that.

I like it but wish it did have the 5.25 drive bay. I understand both sides on the debate and think the real option should be to have it as an option. Possibly something where it could be used if wanted or not used. Possibly have an optional side window with a cutout for a drive bay on the side and then people who wanted it could use a HDD bay for a DVD drive if they wanted to.

maybe a laptop dvd rom type drive maybe more suitable for this build, i have a dg-86, i use a usb to dvd to burn those darn disc's, some other brands offer this on their cases

maybe you can figure out a way to cool graphics cards better, i have 3x gtx980ti in sli gets quite hot in there even with the case fans at 100% (intake and outtake) 41deg on mobo 46 on the case

Re: EVGA wants feedback on DG-7 Case 2017/05/30 05:45:51 (permalink)
I don't know if you guys saw, but EVGA has released the DG-7 Series.

DG77

DG76

DG75

DG73 (No DG74?)

The EVGA DG-7 Series is the answer to the average mid-tower chassis. While other chassis form-factors often get praise for their appearance, cooling design, and ability to house excessive number of storage options, it's easy to forget that those same chassis take up a lot of floor space, create excessive noise, and have features that few will ever use.
Enter the DG-7 – a case designed to look as expensive as the hardware you put inside it, but at a price that won't force you to compromise.

Featuring tempered glass panels*, RGB LED lighting*, KBoost at the touch of a button*, and enough included fans to ensure that you're ready to go out of the box, the DG-7 will take your PC to the next level. Built to support mITX/mATX/ATX, up to 3 graphics cards, one 360mm radiator and one 280mm radiator, and included cable management*, the DG-7 series can still handle all of your enthusiast needs.
Whether you're looking for a solid gaming case or an elegant piece of hardware, the EVGA DG-7 Series is the perfect choice...clearly.

I'm looking forward to these cases. But I want to see more photos of the interior.

Case: Asus Z370-G Box / MB: Asus Z370-G / CPU: Intel I7 8700K / Mem.: 16GB (2x8) 3000Mhz Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 / GPU: GTX 1080TI FTW3 / A.I.O. W.C: EVGA CLC280 / PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G3 750W

I see that it says it will support up to ATX, but how will EVGAs coming x299 dark fit? It's described as "optimized eATX".

I'd like my next build to be all EVGA.., I have the graphics card and PSU, but I'd like to go back to EVGA for the motherboard and possibly the case and this one really catches my eye.

Thanks for any info you can give.

I think these cases, at least upon first impression, aesthetically, look great.
Better break down on the differences between them all, and definitely more pictures/videos regarding the inside, let alone seeing actual builds.

I will never buy another case with a 5.25 bay, it's a waste of space, I mean what are people griping about exactly? CD's? Extinct for years now--go buy a cheap external.

CPU & GPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X / Nvidia RTX 3080 FE (Both EK Water Blocks)

I called the Sales dept. today as soon as I heard this was teased. They have no idea when it was released but I was told that no dates would be announced until after the EVGA team returns from Computex.

I've been waiting for this case for my new build, but not sure I can hold out more than a few more weeks.

I feel your pain. I am planning for an upcoming build as well with ryzen 5 and if these cases aren't available by the time I am ready I will have to go with phantec, can't go wrong with phantecs

Yea, we are in the same boat. My backup is the Eclipse p400s if I can't pre-order the DG-7 in the next week or two here. Fingers crossed!

Anybody seen any good Computex coverage of this yet? All I saw was a tiny bit int BITWit's video on the new EVGA mobos.

Honestly, I think that the internals need to be configured to support E-ATX ( & I mean the unofficial 272MM).  IMHO that is a non-starter, esp when EVGA's own Motherboards lean toward the E-ATX variety.

I'd also like support for rads on the front and back, and enough space for a 120mm rad on the back to go with some of the EVGA Hybrid cards and 8 channel DIMM boards.

I'd actually prefer that it include no fans and keep the cost lower.

Externals are more expensive than internal drives especially blu ray. Slim drives are more expensive as well.  Externals also add more clutter. This has already been discussed though.

I have several Lian Li cases with 5.25 drive bays. If EVGA made cases with such bays, I would consider them. It looks much better than the DG8 series.  Do the EVGA eATX motherboards fit?  I have a Z97 Classified.

I have a Coolermaster HAF X, and just couldn't use the 5.25" bays anymore.
So a friend of mine, that have a Dremmel, did the work for me, and removed all the bays from the case.

It looks like this now (old photo, things are a little bit more organized in the case).

IMO, 5.25" for me is useless.
I have an external CD/DVD Writer/Reader, that I only use with my windows CDs.
For backup, I use two external HDD and that's it.

Although I am a fan of fulltower cases, this case indeed looks nice.

If optical discs are still a thing for you then there are also external optical drives in the market.

A few more info about the DG73.
On the back of it, looks like there will be space for 2 HDD, and 2 SSD.

For what I see, original cable management will be Meh.
I would recomend buying some cable clips for better assembly.

Personally I can't wait for the tempered glass fad to end so we can get back to cases that look pretty without weighing a tonne an looking bad unless constantly cleaned.
On that note, magnetic fan dust filters are essential. Please don't make me work to clean my case.
Lastly I haven't used 5¼" drives in at least two generations. Getting rid of them was about as important a development as putting shrouds on PSU enclosures.

Re: EVGA wants feedback on DG-7 Case 2017/06/04 13:02:21 (permalink)
Any chance you will do one with a silent version or add on option?
Take the DG77 and put a tempered glass panel on the top, very similar to how you use it as a baffle on the front of the case?
Maybe an add on option, as it might be possible to have the 4 screw mounts to hold that top tempered glass panel be in those fan grooves so you don't see them at all if not used.
If its an add on it would be nice to have a piece of material that runs the outer edge of the top tempered glass panel(have it sit on that piece and run 4 screws though that piece into the case) to force the air out the back.  Start cutting slits into that material that the top glass sits on to look like the front air intakes 1/2 to 2/3rds the way back and leave the very back side open for more air flow.

5 1/4 bay is dying, but people do still use it. I personally don't use them anymore since everything is almost all available digitally now.

Feedback on the case:
1. 2x 360 radiator support or 420 either way I don't mind
2. Multiple reservoir and pump mount options
3. Some sort of addon to prevent graphic card sagging
4. USB 3.1(or 3.0) with 1 USB Type C and 1 or 2 Type A
5. Only one panel tempered glass only. No one wants to see my cables on the other side. Also less tint on the glass.
6. DG-7 logo on the tempered glass can go
7. Metal inside so magnetic LEDs work with it
8. Cut out on the bottom of the motherboard for those headers(DG-87 didn't have this and I had to rout the cables all the way from the bottom of the case)
9. RGB eveything

Love everything on the list. Removable 5.25 bays would be ideal. DefinitelyThat way those who want one can still have it, and those that want water cooling space can have that too.
