What strings you guys use on your basses?
My son-in-law gave me a set of flat wound string, I do like them.
They are easier om my fingers and much less noise if my fingers should rub the string going up or down the neck.

I have had flat wound and they really have a smooth tone. But I always get round wound GHS Boomers. The round wound strings really ring out and give you some pop. I would imagine most bass players use round wound. If you played jazz, blues then the flat wound would work.
Another good question is do you use finger ease or something similar or just don't even bother.

I had to google finger ease, never heard of it before. Going to give it a try, thanks Robby.

I usually get some elixer strings because they last so long. I used to beta test for them and got strings for free that was awesome.

I really like the bongo Bass...

Interestingly enough, it was designed by Ernie Ball company president Sterling Ball in conjunction with the Music Man Research and Development department and BMW's Designworks team. Many think it (the body) reminds them of a toilet seat.
I think it's kind of an acquired taste; one either loves it or hates it. I also think it sounds great and it's pretty easy to play. It was my 1st 5-string bass.

Have you ever played a Warwick? My friend has one and it is very impressive both in the quality design, parts and the look and sound. They are not giving those away either.

Yes, I've played Warwicks before, but only in Guitar Centers (when they used to carry them... not sure if they still do). I like the tone of some of the models, but disliked the weight of them (they tended to be quite heavy).
Having said that, my Fordera Emperor 5 Standard weighs in at a rather hefty 9 pounds, 15 ounces (1 ounce shy of 10 pounds).
Sadowsky basses on the other hand can weigh as little as 7.5 lbs.

So the neck thing is not new, but like anything it is not getting better. I have a much worse problem with my lower back and have had surgical procedures done as recent as 4 weeks ago. You would not know it if you saw me -plenty strong, but the non-stop pain takes its toll. I have always been very athletic and now I am reduced to stretching and no lifting. BTW I was never in any accident - get asked that alot.

That's rough, Robby. Again, I'm really sorry to hear this. I really hope for the best for you!

If you could have any bass at no cost what would it be?

Ever heard of GAS? It's an acronym for Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Lots of musicians (of all levels of ability) suffer from GAS at various times, however I presently do not. My basses are filling my needs pretty well right now. So, to answer your question, I don't have an instrument I'm pining for... I'm more concerned with playing the ones I have better and better each day.
What's that old saying... "It's a poor craftsman who blames his tools."

Presently, all of my basses are strung with roundwound strings. I don't play any music or with any groups that require flatwound and never have tried half round strings.

I love music, post any pictures of your musical instruments.
Still have to get a couple pics of my other guitars.  Soon!
Nice drum set, my son-in-law wants to give me one of his sets. My wife said "Oh hell no"
Can't complain, she lets me have a few guitars a hot rod Mustang and a growing collection of computers.
She is pretty cool, she has put up with me going on forty years.
