So I'm suddenly single again, don't ask but I've got cash all the sudden again.
 
Parts of current system
Coolermaster HAF-X
Xeon X5650 6core @ 4ghz
Intel DX58SO
16gb DDR3 1600
GTX 980 Ti
700W Coolermaster
240gb SSD
2TB HDD
1.5TB HDD
500GB HDD
BluRay Burner
 
So my goal I think should be board/cpu/ram the rest I think is fine. I have OS
 
Budget is $800

    a z270, 7600k, 16Gb DDR4 3000, 500GB NVME m.2 ( check out the intel 600p, not as fast as the samsungs but still way faster than a ssd ) should drop you in the $800 bracket, $900 if you want the 7700k. 
    thats mine with the 7600k and it runs rock solid at 4.4ghz ( should be able to take it to 4.8 stable with a little tweaking )
     
    and being single is the only way i had enough to finally upgrade myself

    Its not that outdated, the gpu is nice, also im content with my current drive arrangement, not really interested in dropping my 850evo for an M.2 atm.

    i was pretty much in the same boat, x58 760 classy, but with W3680 and 12GB RAM, might have stayed with it if it had pcie 3, sata 3 and usb 3. even after 7 years it still holds its own
