If you have to ship them a defective one back, make sure there's no roaches inside, or you are out of luck.  LOL.

I think the real issue here is that people would rather buy a ps4 instead of spending the money on exterminating the roach infestation in their home. Because chances are if your ps4 goes dead its from the roaches running around inside your ps4. Having reasonable priorities in life is essential to living a functional life.

That's ok, every year tornadoes clean up some of those trailer parks.

I have found that ants seem to like my laptop.
Hardly ever see an ant in my house, but when I do it is crawling on my screen.
Even had one under the screen somehow. At first I though I had the "Ant virus"
Until I squished it and it was a real ant.

Yep.  Seen roaches in returned gaming consoles before.  Makes one wonder how bad that person's house is.

As for the tornados getting rid of them.  Nope, they just move and infest the next one or the structures left behind.

Simple, keep your place clean, and don't jam your console in your entertainment center where it's dark with no air circulation. Problem solved.

Cockroaches are everywhere in the South USA which is why you need to find a good exterminator.

There's something wrong if your console gets roaches in it, just saying. Might want to take care of that.

As for the mess part, some people maybe, but your house is full of food and dark spaces. Your house doesn't need to be a mess to get infested. If you don't take the right preventative measures, or you leave doors and windows open too much, you're literally just letting them in.

Believe me, if roaches or any other vermin are in your area you're better off getting prepared than assuming your house being clean enough for people is good enough. It's a factor, but it's not the only reason these things happen.

In regards to roaches, they can fit through pretty tight spaces, I guess the vents on the PS 4 are wide enough for them to slip in.

Cockroaches can be pretty small and can get into just about anything. I'm glad I don't have to deal with them, but I do have a few house centipedes which I'm not too fond of.

They like dark warm places ....... I can easily see them crawling into a console if you're house is disgustingly filthy.

I am guessing that a lot of console gamers live in filth as I know a lot of college kids who live in cheap apartments who even if they have a clean apartment the person next to them might not.

I have repaired 100s of computers and laptops with roach infestations as well. It's not limited to PS4s. It's something we deal with here in the Florida. Lol.

I thought it was a joke when I first read about it a few weeks ago too. But I guess it's not that big of surprise if they already have them in their homes in the first place.

it's the stink bugs I have to be concerned about. They arrived in my neck of the woods about 10 years ago and each year they have gotten worse. They love warm places like inside a pc case. I've been lucky so far but cant seem to get rid of these  bugs they are especially active this time of year.

Used to work for a large ISP. They had colo space on the ground floor of one of the big carrier hotels. Ants. Lots and lots of ants. They only need a tiny crack to get in, and apparently the smell of ozone (from cheap fans, etc) attracts them. Trying to explain to the Cisco TAC that you need a power supply replaced because it was buggy can get... interesting.

Funny but actually something I never thought about having an occasional roach or two sneak into the house every now and then.
