I'm having an issue that just started yesterday. This PC build is from July 2015 and I haven't had any trouble with it until yesterday.

I was playing Overwatch and then boom, PC shuts off like the house took a power hit, then continuously cycles on and off every 3-5 seconds never fully posting.

I've tried selecting a different BIOS, monitored temperature and voltages, nothing glaring sticks out. I've tried running CPU and GPU benchmarking software to try and get it to fail but no luck.

Once the rocker switch for PSU has been switched off for a few minutes and then on again the PC will boot normally and after roughly 20 min it will power off and start rebooting again.

Post codes are the inconsistent, C is the only one that remains when it is in a reboot cycle. When fully booted 30 series codes are displayed which I believe is normal.

I'm thinking it might be the PSU but it's only 2 years old and is a high end PSU, so it may be a bad actor but I'm posting here for advice as it may be a MOBO issue.

MOBO P/N: 151-HE-E999-KR (X99 Classified)
BIOS: Default (never updated)
Physical BIOS's selected: 1 (primary, not selected), 2 (currently selected), 3 (not attempted)
OS: Windows 10 Pro (clean install)
CPU: Intel i-7 5930k
OC'ed: No, never attempted either
Cooler: Corsair H80i
RAM: g.Skill Ripjaws 4 (PC4 26400) 4 x 4GB
RAM OC'ed: No, never attempted
PSU: Corsair AX1200i
PCI Slots:
1: GTX 980ti
2: empty
3: ASUS PCE-AC68 wireless adapter
4: empty
5: GTX 980ti
6: Empty

Is your Hydro Series H80i CPU cooler Pump working?
That is a little low end for a Intel i-7 5930k CPU.
Remove All your Memory and use only One Memory Stick at a Time to see if you can Post to the Bios.

When monitoring your temps,  was this only in the BIOS after the PC's cooled off for a few minutes?

Surely something isn't right and it could be a component going bad like the PSU or temp related.

As far as temperatures are concerned, temps are monitored through HWMonitorPro and Speedfan, both logged and show stable temps before shutdown. Under load the CPU gets to at max 50 C, the GPU's around 78 for both.

The water cooler I have installed is working as advertised, I hear the pump running and have stable temps just web browsing at 27C, so I'm pretty sure it's handling the temperature load just fine, especially since I'm not over clocking at all.

The AX1200i has a self test feature, self tests green but I will self test again after my PC reboots. Hopefully I can pull the connectors fast enough so that if internal voltage instability is an issue it will fail self test.

OK, 2x GTX 980 Ti

Disconnect one from psu and disable the PCIe lane with MB switches and retest

If it passes, test the other 980 Ti - solo

If it passes with either 980 Ti solo; but, not with both ---> PSU issue most likely

So my rig profile isn't updated, I now have two 980ti's. I will try unplugging my video cards tomorrow if I have the chance.

After performing a self test on the PSU it seems my system is stable, hasn't shutdown in over 20 minutes.

Yes, I looked at your Mods Rigs page.  Edited my post to fix / replace "FTW" with "Ti" Guess you need to update your Mods Rigs page

When your GPUs warm-up they do draw more power, it is not just the higher demand of the game / task at hand

Sounds like the psu is the main culprit. Doing what Cool GTX recommended is suggested. I'd also check the motherboard temps. More info on post code C... http://www.evga.com/suppo...ewfaq.aspx?faqid=59394

I had similar symptoms prior to having a nasty blowout with the same combination of MB and PSU you have there.  Just make sure you don't have the older firmware PSU.  If the PSU was made after 3 months roughly of release, you should be good to go with the newer firmware that enables OCP by default where the older firmware didn't.  While I believe what happened to me was because OCP wasn't there to stop the blowout, it could have been a combination of getting a bad board and OCP disabled.

I would still check your PSU's firmware, even though your PSU worked that long.  I had the PSU working on the X58 system prior and once I got everything in for the X99, that happened.  Things were replaced since then and all is well 2+ years later.

I would also note, you should update your BIOS to the newest version to rule that out, that's if you're able to even get to to that point.

No worries man, I was just wanted to clear up confusion just in case there was some weird quirk that is video card specific.

So can you elaborate a bit more on the what blowout you experienced?

Thanks to all that replied, I am going to RMA my PSU, Corsair takes forever apparently so I'll be down for at least 3 weeks without express RMA.

Ok so I read the whole thread, I don't think I have an older version PSU as I built this system in 2015, but I'm going to double check to make sure.

On a side note, when I left for work yesterday I shut down my PC. I work 12+ hours a day, and when I got home my rig was in the reboot cycle. I have no idea how long it has been doing that, probably 8 hours at least. I totally spaced on turning the rocker switch off.

Alright so an update, it was the PSU.

Last week I decided to order a new PSU, and I ordered EVGA's SuperNova P2 1200W PSU. Got it on Friday but date night with the wife, so got it installed Saturday.

It was a PITA to remove the existing cables and route new ones, but I got it done. Powered on and posted first go, connected monitor and peripherals and stress tested my GPU's, then played Overwatch and Doom for a couple hours without issue. Accidentally left it on over night, came in this afternoon and still solid.
I guess when I get the refurbed PSU I'll sell it.

And as a side note, everything in my build is EVGA save for the case now: Graphics cards, PSU, MOBO, I guess I turned into a fanboi lol, I may be looking at you guys' case too, looks smooth. Anyway you guys can hook me up with a coffee mug?
