While waiting on availability from EVGA I decided to start looking at what other manufacturers and 3rd parties might have available. In doing so I saw that next week NZXT is releasing a new GPU adapter for 10 series cards. So I figured I'd start asking around as to which would be the better option to water cool an EVGA 1080ti FE card.

The Kraken X62 immediately jumps to mind when thinking about this but I'd be curious to hear if there would be a better option for a compatible cooler (don't want to spend extra for LED/Lights vs better performance).

Prices are close enough that I'm not really worried about it. I also figure I'd ask the warranty question since a 3rd party wouldn't be an EVGA part upgrading and EVGA part.

Naturally, I'd prefer to simply be able to buy the EVGA hybrid kit but those never seem to be available.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks

g12 not available yet, so no comments on it. i did pre-order one though, so we'll see how that goes.

i've been running a g10 + h75 on my 980ti. temps are quite good, hovering around 55~60 at full load versus 80~82 on a stock acx 2.0 cooler.

bought the g10 + h75 all used for $60. once i receive my 1080 ti FE from step up, i'm going to sell my 980 ti and use the g10 + h75 on the 1080 ti.

Was thinking of purchasing the hybrid kit, however $159.99 is ridiculous for the advantage over my current used setup.

h55, h60, h75, h80, kraken x31, x41 can all be had for less than $60 used in reddit hardwareswap. i honestly recommend this over the hybrid kit. i'm sure the hybrid kit would ive me about 5 degrees better, but is that 5 degrees worth another $100?

Thanks for the reply... my main thing going with the hybrid kit (or any solution) would be least amount of hassle and supportability. I'm fairly good with PC builds and such but I'm not super handy in general. So the hybrid pretty much screwing on is a big bonus for me.

yeah, i hear ya. the hybrid kit is pretty straight forward and works great. i'm just a bit sour at the pricing tho. not that i care about $160 when i'm spending $700 on a gpu.

btw, the g10 was very easy to install. just insert backplate, screw mounting screws, then screw g10 into the mounting screws. very similar to a cpu heatsink install.

one thing i don't like is how it looks overall. the g12 looks so much better.

Since it's not coming out until next week I will probably wait and see. Either way, I have a pre-order of the hybrid kit from B&H... but that's supposed to ship in May at the earliest. So I am investigating my options until then.

I've also got a G10, but with a Kraken X41 (soon X61). Two different 980 Tis didn't go over 45C on the GPU and 70C on the VRMs (20 to 30C lower on the VRAM). Kept my 1080 below 35C as well, and when I get my 1080 Ti I expect similar performance to the 980 Tis (and hopefully even better with the X62).

I can't see the G12 doing worse than the G10.

I didn't see the G12 as compatible with the 1080Ti though it wasn't in the list. They were pretty specific on the 980Ti and 780Ti so don't think think it was a generalized "1080 series" compatible.

Got my 1080 Ti FE from step-up today and slapped it under my Kraken G10 with a new Kraken X61. Seeing about 43C average temps - this puppy is warmer than my 980 Tis, as they were under a smaller X41!

It was a pain in the posterior to remove the bi-backplate with those tiny screws, then there were the two screws on the EMI/output bracket, and then there were the nut-head screws (not even Torx or Phillips!) that were LIBERALLY applied all over. They REALLY didn't want that cooler going ANYWHERE!

X62 i believe is the best performing AIO currently being sold, i cant imagine not doing a great job on a pascal. i really dont like the looks of the bracket tho, fortunately have a hybrid kit coming my way :)

it's also seriously over-priced. $160 msrp. i have one that replaced a corsair h115 as my cpu cooler. temps are almost identical to the h115. but it was $50 more just for the bling bling mirror effect.

So can anyone tell me, is the Hybrid cooler for the 1080ti FE a limited run or did they just not have enough stock ? Whats the deal? I have been checking every single day to see if they are in stock ?

I could get a Kraken G12 with a nice dual radiator H115 all for less than the Hybrid AIO from EVGA.
