I have seen x58 boards selling cheap now. With x79 and x99 xeons selling on the used market, the x58 demand is over.
Why buy a 180$ x58 to put a cheap xeon in it when I can buy a x79 or x99 for 100-150 and put a cheap xeon in it...
Seeing x58 in the 80-140$ range on some of the busier forums and on ebay. Prices had to come down.

I miss my EVGA classified3 with a w3680 hexcore. Had other xeons in it x5650, x5660. Fun times.

people with damaged x58 motherboards that dont want to build a system from the begining will still go for the x58
for new system sure you should go to x99 with nvme support + the rest of the xeon ,huge memory package.

Well, I run an Asus P6T x58 with a Xeon 5670 @4.2 with a PCIe NVMe drive out of a PCIe Slot. One must boot EFI from a USB drive and load the NVMe driver for windows to be able to run NVMe as a boot device. I also have a USB 3 card and getting 1000 cinebench with 6 HT cores. Well, it's good enough for now.
