7700k on a Z170

newest bios flashed to OC the chip with an asus maximus VIIII Hero board. almost reached a stable 5ghz. after adjusting a few settings though 4.9ghz seems to be it. overall, I'm impressed with the chip and glad I didn't have to buy a Z270 yet

    Nice!  Good to see the Z170 working well with the newer gen chips.  How is the voltage for it?  Did you have to go above the intel recommended specs to get there?  What are your load temps looking like with that Noctua cooler?

    since this post, I changed out the cooler to a corsair H115. I did it because I thought the noctua wasn't cutting it. only to read later that the chip itself was the problem[intel cheaped out on the paste] load temps under stress are low 70s after delidding. before they were 88-89c. its at 5ghz now with 1.300 volt increase

    Very nice drop in temps.  Yeah you would have thought that extra $$$ for K series would have had better TIM than their regular non K chips.

    With those drops I think I might have to delid myself...I've just been putting it off because I haven't really had much free time.
