Hello, I don't know if this has been discussed here yet, and if so I apologize. I have received my new GTX 1080ti and I've noticed while playing all games that the screen sometimes goes Black then comes back after a second or two. I don't know if this is a known issue or if I should try and RMA my card out? Any insight or knowledge on this matter is greatly appreciated!

What display cable are you using and what display settings in nvidia CP? Sounds like a cable issue to me. Try re-seating cables at GPU and monitor or try another cable and see if it still does it.

I appreciate the quick response... I am using all default settings. The cable I just was using on my old Radeon r9 fury x with never any issues regarding a black screen scenario.

When this happens, do your clocks or power usage drop in monitoring?

Are you using an HDMI connection and 60Hz refresh (or more)? I have had the exact same problem with two different monitors. They were fine at their 1920x1200 and 1920x1080 native resolutions at 48Hz, 50Hz and 59Hz refresh rates over HDMI, but at 60Hz the monitor would go blank for a second every now and again. I fixed it by buying a DisplayPort cable. Try setting your refresh rate to less than 60Hz or using DisplayPort.

Just so people know. I had a brand new 1080ti fe doing the same thing. System working just fine with a maxwell gpu (4k tv connected by hdmi port). Rma card but same issue again. I asked on overclock.net forum and other people have the same issue, going back from two nvidia driver versions. My friend who has a gtx 1070 has the same issue (1440p monitor connected by dp port) since he updated his drivers. So everything is pointing the issue to nvidia drivers, unfortunatly there is not much we can do except sending bug reports to nvidia and waiting for a future fix on this.

Could be a faulty cable/output. Try a different cable/output. Make sure your displayport cable is vesa certified if you're using one.

Send it back to EVGA. I had the same issue happen last week. First the memory drops happened when playing ME:A. So I went about 2 days of uninstalling and re-installing drivers.
Came across many of different fixes. And each time things got worst. Went from a black screen to a green screen to flickering during booting.
Just contact EVGA and RMA it.

But if many people are having the same issue... What would RMA'en it do? Dude said he RMAd out his card and had the same issue... It's definitely a driver thing I believe.

While I agree, If it's a driver issue, EVERYBODY would have this issue. Card BIOS issue, maybe? Is there a bad batch that has to be re-flashed? I'm still not convinced either way to be honest. Although, I don't think EVGA would RMA it even if that's the case either since they can just give you another BIOS update so who knows. Somebody knows what's going on here but they ain't telling us...

So, found this in the Nvidia driver 381.65 notes that were released today. This is listed under "Open Issues" Pg 15: [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti][Mass Effect: Andromeda]: Random memory errors may occur when playing the game. [1887520] Could this be the issue you are all experiencing?

It Could be the Games to tell you trurhfully, at first because the 1080Ti is such new Tech, that when i tested the new Gpu and ran it at Ultra Settings then set it back down, it crashed not only the Game, but the Computer. Meaning it had Nothing to do with the Ti. but a series of mistakes of putting games in more than 1 drive and 1 folder, and also because the although the older games have an Ultra setting. It they were not made in the same era and Tech-time as the 1080Ti and that makes All the difference. Old Cpu's and other Computer hardware can attribute combine to these problems as well. Yeah, the TechViewer/ Systems Monitor should indicate where the problems could lie as well. Press Crtl+Alt+Delete to bring it up.

That was a issue. But that would happen only in game. My problem was similar after I realized there was an driver problem with ME:A. Again it went through trying to fix the problem for a few days. My hunch is that the previous drivers screwed with the Bios on the card. So my recommendation is to just send it back.

I have the same issue with ftw3 and requested for RMA. Before I send the card back, I decided to buy a new dp 1.4 cable to replace the original dp cable from dell s2716dg. I will post the result after I received my new cable.

Unfortunately, no. I changed the cable and the black screen issue still came out.

Anyone have any results to their issue, either RMA or cable? I'm having the issue on an 8mo old 1080ti SC Hybrid, on HDMI though. Swapped cables & ports on my TV 3-4 times. No display port option. Any time it resumes from sleep, it will flash repeatedly until I unplug and replug the cable from either the card or TV. Now, that doesn't work every time and I have to completely shut down and restart. My desktop also enjoys crashing from 3840x2160 to 1024x768 pretty regularly.

I am having this issue too where my main G-Sync monitor will go black for a second or two on my FTW3. I've updated the vBIOS to the latest, done a clean driver install and all the usual troubleshooting. I am going to swap my DP cables around (two monitors, one without G-Sync) and see if that helps. It was never an issue on the STRIX 1080 that it replaced. Clocks do not drop, nor does power usage. They stay maxed wherever they are at the time of play. Might be time for an RMA...? I'll let you guys know. Edit: I changed the cables around, and I am now able to use my monitor as intended. The black screen hasn't happened so far, and it no longer flickers like mad unless the G-Sync monitor is in the secondary DP instead of the primary DP. I wasn't even able to make it into my UEFI without the screen just going completely black in the past - and now I can. Maybe it was a cable issue all along...? I'll confirm once I've played with it more. So far, so good!

I just thought I'd post an update rather than editing my other post... Almost 24 hours into the changeover between the two cables, and I haven't had one weird issue yet. Who knew?! I think I'll just end up grabbing two higher quality DP cables down the road to avoid this in the future.
