What kind of motherboard, what version OS are you using, did you load the drivers for this generic usb hub. What all is plugged in to the hub?

I have issues with this when I try charging my phone with my laptop. The phone is constantly disconnecting and reconnecting which gets very old quick. I think it is just a bad or loose usb connector because my charger works fine with my desktop. If you really feel up to it you could try and take apart your laptop, desolder your usb connectors, and solder in new ones.

I would just look through the model number and deivers section for your laptop, and see if there are any usb driver updates that you may be missing.

Could you please verify whether you are referring to an external USB Hub (port expander) or an internal USB Root Hub? One you buy and plug into your laptop to make more USB ports. The other is a piece of hardware in your laptop.
