Hi,

I recently purchased a GTX 780 Ti Superclocked w/ EVGA ACX Cooler 'brand new' on ebay. The card runs fine with games like Elite Dangerous, Borderlands and World of Warships. But when playing games like Borderlands 2, GTAV and Bioshock Infinite the PC crashes (screen goes black). Sometimes within 5 minutes, sometimes within 1/2 hour.
I've tried numerous different drivers using DDU. The card runs at mid 60C under load.

Any ideas on what else I can try?

Cheers.

System:
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R.
Intel i7 960 3.2Ghz.
6GB ram.
Coolermaster Silentpro Gold 1200w.
Win 7 64bit.

A old/faulty psu/psu cables can cause this issue. How old is your psu? Have you tried powering the card with a different psu or a different set of pci-e power cables?

    Other things to try:

#1 Try underclocking the card fully with msi afterburner to see if it helps stop the black screen from occurring. Instructions on how to fully underclock with msi afterburner can be found here under step #4.
#2 Try setting gpu fan to max speed then retesting the game. Setting fan speed % inside msi afterburner to 100% will make the gpu fan run at max speed. Caution: GPU fan will be loud at max speed.

    Hi Sajin,

Thank you for the suggestions and the link. The psu is about 4-5 years old. I underclocked the card and increased fan speed to 100% with msi afterburner and tested with borderlands 2. The game ran for about 5min but eventually froze and crashed.

I don't have access to another psu or extra pci-e cables so I might bite the bullet and buy a new psu. Hopefully that will fix it. If not, the card still has about 125 days warranty left. Anyway, I'll let you know how I go.
    Thanks again.

    Update.
Bought a new Corsair 750W psu, installed it and still have the same problems. Tried a few more drivers with no change. Tried running Batman: Arkham origins a few times, the pc suddenly shuts down and wont restart. Removed the 780 and installed a trusty old HD5850. Restarted the pc and have submitted a RMA. Bummer.
