I've been looking at gaming monitors for weeks and still not that convinced about any of those available, as the title says, 27" G-Sync 1440, max £700.
Models in this range, Acer, Asus, AOC, (Dell has no gamma control) and BenQ and ViewSonic don't make a 27" G-Sync that I can find, they all have quality control issue (asus admitted they needed to improve) with many people reporting dead/stuck/bright pixels, back-light bleed, scan lines, flickering, colour banding etc, and all IPS models seems to suffer from IPS glow and some excessively if you get a bad one.
It's concerning that even spending a lot on a monitor it's still down to luck if you get a good one, so what are your experiences of these monitors, have I missed a monitor that I should consider?

I've been using my ASUS Rog Swift PG278Q since Aug. 2014.  No complaints or issue's.  No dead pixels.  Works & looks as good as it did when I bought it.

If you can score the Dell new at $450. Grab it. That is as good as its going to get from a price/performance stand point. That monitor goes on sale often especially at BestBuy.

Thanks for the info, my choice had actually come down to the Dell S2716DG or the Asus swift, I would love to get a Dell for $450 but UK prices are a real rip off at the moment and the cheapest I can find the Dell for is £544-$678 and the Asus is about the same at £550 on amazon UK, they both have similar reviews, mostly good and if I buy from amazon it's easy to return if faulty, I think I'll try the Asus first and if any issues then return it and try the Dell.

I've got the same monitor and love it also. No complaints or dead pixels here either. What I don't understand is how this monitor is more expensive now than when I bought it in 2015?

I had mine on preorder before they were released, so I'm thinking the $800 I paid was pretty much top dollar for being an early adopter...

I would think you'll be pretty happy with either of these.  Both are pretty similar in looks and specs.  The Dell I see has HDMI as well as DP where the ASUS only has DP if that matters to you.  It doesn't appear that the Dell has ULMB mode where the ASUS does.

The PG278Q has quite a bit more AG coating than the DELL S2716DG. Seeing both side by side, the Dell's screen is much more clearer IMO. The "rainbow speckles" from the coating are more apparent on the PG278Q.

Not doubting what you're seeing, but I don't see anything that resembles "rainbow speckles" or anything else unusual for that matter.  As far as a side by side comparison, I've never seen the Dell in person.

Actually only a DP on the Asus was a concern as I have my online work PC and my gaming rig which never goes online, I don't want two monitors on my desk and only use one monitor, one on HDMI and the other on DVI and just switch input modes (my old BenQ doesn't have a DP) but I see that the PG278QR also has an HDMI port so I'll go for that one.

Can confirm the Dell has ULMB mode.

After owning G-sync monitors and 144hz monitors (without g-sync).  I think that G-sync is a waste of money.

If your GPU can drive 144 hz, (and if you are using a screen with low input lag) then you really don't need the g-sync.

But that's just me - I'm sure everybody differs.

I'd recommend getting a cheaper 144hz benq monitor, then getting a 21:9 monitor for widescreen gaming (or a 4k tv).

I was anticipating someone saying something along those lines because I had considered it myself, surely a reasonable spec system (mine i5-7600k, EVGA 1070) shouldn't have too many issues with tearing, stuttering, etc, I wish I could try G-sync/non G-sync monitors together as I'm not totally convinced it's worth the extra money?

I lean this way as well. As sad as it may sound, I am still running three ASUS VG248QE 144Hz monitors in surround because no monitor has yet to impress me enough to change. For me the 144Hz made all the difference in the world.

Now the monitors being announced this year thus far are starting to peak my interest and I think we are finally getting closer to what I am thinking my next monitor needs to be. In the range of a 32" in 4K at 144hz in OLED.

I love tech but sometimes I think it was all so much easier playing Myst with a Pentium, a 3Dfx voodoo graphics accelerator and a SVGA 800x600 CRT, more choice often just leads to more confusion!

I have a benq xl2720z monitor that I use for my first person shooters. It supports 3d vision 2, and has 144 hz refresh rate. Its the bezt monitor ive ever used. I picked it up new on Amazon for 339.

Then I have a 4k tv (Sony X800d) which is fantastic for games like Grand Theft Auto, Witcher 3, Doom, Ghost Recond Wildlands, etc... (and Ps4 pro and Xbox One S)

    I love my setup
