Also I submitted a ticket for my card here since it's registered and whatnot, and the answer I got was that since it isn't officially supported for a mac they are officially not going to do anything about it in terms of helping resolve the problem so I beseech the wiser forum members here to please help if it's all possible... is there a fix for the panics?  software conflict? flaky driver? a dimm gone bad?  I really want to keep the card and get some work done versus throwing in the towel already and returning it, thanks!

Well, I may have spoke too soon. It works, for about 5 mins then I get a kernal
panic and it reboots itself... did this 3 times in a row over the course of a few minutes until it wouldn't give any video at all... thought it wasn't booting up so I put my old amd 5780 back in and yes, it's booting with that card but I don't yet know what's causing the panics... I have all 3 reports from that incident, is anyone here able to decipher such things? sooo close!

The card could be faulty. I'd recommend testing the card in another system if you can.

I plan on adding some new drives next week, partly for a windows partition, so if I can successfully boot up on this card in windows would that indicate that the card itself is ok?

If you can boot into windows & run 3dmark time spy & fire strike without any issues I'd say the card is most likely ok.

It was much mentioned earlier in the thread, but since you now have the system up and running, have you properly updated the driver/CUDA driver for the graphics card?

oh absolutely... I downloaded the latest webdriver 367.15.10.35f01 (and latest CUDA 8.0.63) and installed them right before I swapped out my old card for the 980 Ti.  That was this past Tuesday evening, and it worked without a problem for a couple hours, had one black screen reboot, but that was it.  It being a Kingpin edition with two 8pins and 1 6pin port, I initially had the two internal 6pin connectors in the mac hooked into a 6 to 8pin adapter and put that in one of the 8 pin ports, and let my 750psu handle the remaining 8 and 6 pin ports.  But because of that one reboot, the next day I thought I'd have the card running fully off the external psu in case lack of power was responsible.  So I reconfigured it, everything ran fine for a while but then I got 3 kernel panics just a few minutes apart (which are the logs further up) and on the 3rd blackout, it never rebooted. I reset the PRAM/NVRAM and still nothing but now I'm learning that the nvram reset may have caused it to go back to OSX drivers but I don't think so.  In any event I will check that when I get home from work but that's a thin slice of hope right there.  I was hoping someone who can read logs like this could discover the root of the problem or maybe some conflict of some kind?

Full disclosure I was running Mad Max at the time, and that's a pretty beefy game I'll admit but come on, a 980 Ti can handle that?  It ain't Crysis.  Also beforehand I was messing around with After Effects and enabled Metal support which I hear is pretty bad and buggy and I don't see how that would affect a video game after the fact, but the point is, I didn't get this card for games, I primarily got it for After Effects and C4D so I really need this to work :-p
