Looking at a 1000W PSU for my upcomimg build.

Single LGA 2066, unless Ryzen ups their pcie lanes.
4 or 8 Dimms
Two AMD’s RX Vega's
2, HDD's
2-4 SDD's

This new build will see alot of GPU rendering, but also a good mix od ideal and sleep time.  So, would having a Platinum over Gold make much sense? And and Im guessing 1000watts is plenty?

I would go with the G3 due to the size and design. Just my personal preference; you wont miss the 2% efficiency anyways.

Thanks Mr.Decker.  With the system seeing a mix of alot of sleep time, and rendering time, wasnt sure if the Platinum was wanted.  How quiet is the G3's?

Edit: BTW, whats current Nvidia GPU drivers like? Depending on AMD's Vega's I might even consider two GTX 980 Ti's. And guessing a 1000W PSU is plenty for two 980's?

EVGA 1000w G3 PSU is $50 cheaper compared to 1000w P2 PSU. If you don't plan on using the system 6+ hours a day or running it 24/7, might be better to just go with the G3. The P2 better efficiency would take a long time to recoup that $50 difference in power savings.

If the price difference was $10-30 i would go with the P2 unit.

I do like the smaller phyical size of the G3's.  As far as the system being on load for more than a few hours, pretty sure the gpu rendering will be pretty random.  Im not sure what Nvivida's next GPU's are, but would 1000W's be overkill for two GPU's, next gen has to be less watts that two GTX 980 Ti's?

If you like the shorter length PSU (50mm difference in Length) and happy with gold rated efficiency, go for it. I bet both units will work just fine.

    (P2) 85mm (H) x 150mm (W) x 200mm (L)
