So is this still available to do with the classified cards I have?

When was your purchase date?

One card was purchased 11/18/16 and the other one 1/13/17.

I am not sure what your location is. I am going to send you a pm to try to assist rather than filling the thread with information at this time.

Your location may affect the ability to utilize step up. It looks like your card purchased in November is just outside of the window.

As I said, I am going to send a pm on how to set up the card Purchased in January. Please review www.evga.com/support/stepup while I type up the pm, please let me know if you are in a location that step up is supported, and that you read the Pm I send.

Also, please verify that both of your cards are fully registered and showing in your "my products" page. To dtart the step up for the newer card, you need to go into the "view details" tab of the registered card. Your receipts will need to be uploaded as well.

Around 65 miles away. I would go visit them, but they would probably put me to work.

Pretty bummed about this having bought the card in September, specifically choosing the classified over the cheaper FTW and SC versions at the time. While I can understand the mixed responses about this it would be nice to see the same treatment given to all 1080 owners irrespective of model as now those who splashed out the most cash are the ones left behind

I guess I should add, unless this is a brand new (within 90 days) purchase, then of course.. if not, refer to my first post.

I feel just a little bit bad for the Classified owners. The Classiefied costs a pretty big amount more then the FTW, but it doesn't feature a real improvement and then these owners can "only" step up to the Founders Edition. The SC would be fair imao.

No other company offers step-ups.

I think we're lucky.

EVGA sees the bigger picture.  And their customer service is what earns them their customers lifetime loyalty.

I'm a Classified 1080 customer.

And I love the Classified brand.

I could easily list all the reasons why (and I'd even enjoy doing so).

Re: Special Message for GTX 1080 Classified Owners 2017/04/12 08:11:08 (permalink)
This whole step up was nice but I'm super disappointed in my 1080 Ti FE. If I could, I would definitely go back to my classified.

I can't play games because my 1080 Ti FE overheats too much. It's getting too close to 90c and when I turn the fan up, it's too loud to be justifiable for everyday gaming. This really is a nightmare. It was the first time and the last time I ever get a founders edition.

My classified never got above 67c and it was over clocked. They really dropped the ball with the fe cards. Maybe there is just too much power for a blower style cooler to handle the heat on the 1080 ti? I really don't know. I'm not comfortable running the cards this hot. It should not be acceptable.

All I want is to stay under 80c while not sounding like a jet engine. The best part is, I can't get a damn hybrid cooler. I'm trying hard to get one, always being there ready to buy right when I get the notification that it's in Stock (got a notification 3 times so far) and each time I click the link, it shows up as out of stock. I stay and refresh the page for 5 minutes to make sure it updates.

So now I'm stuck not even playing any games because of this garbage. What an awful situation.

Sell it and buy a 1080 classified or a 1080ti ICX variant when they release. I was disappointed by the performance also but I got $675 from it to put toward my 1080ti FTW which is $175 more than I would have gotten from just selling the classy.

Re: Special Message for GTX 1080 Classified Owners 2017/04/13 12:52:48 (permalink)
I don't mean to sound ungrateful, eVGA didn't have to do anything, they could have just said that the thermal pads and firmware update were good enough, and called it a day.

I totally would *not* have blamed them for that. Going further and setting up 1080 Tis for the 1080 Classified owners was very nice of them, and I'm pretty sure it ended up costing eVGA a solid chunk of cash.

BUT...

I am terribly disappointed in the FE blower. I selected the Classified after MUCH research, because the Classified ACX 3.0 cooler performed at the top of the range and was very, very quiet. The Ti FE's blower performs TERRIBLY and is very clearly audible.

I don't blame eVGA, and I'm not demanding anything, but having us wait longer until there was a better fit would have been a better solution. I said at several times, before, during, and after the Step-Up, that I would have been happier with a 1080 ICX FTW and some sort of credit or another promo game code or WHATEVER to cover the 50$ difference in the "downgrade" to FTW. Hell, just offer free shipping in and back and I would have been thrilled. I was repeated told that this 1080 Classified to 1080 Ti FE option was the only thing I would be offered, and I could take it or leave it. Had barely a week to waffle, and I kind of wish I'd just stayed on the Classified.

I have a Ti FE that I'm planning to sell (too hot, too noisy), and since eVGA's Ti FTW3 is perpetually out of stock, I'll probably end up going with some other VAR's up-cooler card. It's really disappointing, even though eVGA really made an effort.
