How would I make the Display Port or HDMI Port for that matter my 1st primary port that boots as the 1st display by default so when I boot computer that's the monitor CMOS shows on?  It's currently set as DVI as default port as # 1.

You cant. This is nvidia's port design. If you dont want it to boot on dvi, you will need to remove the dvi display and connect to hdmi first or display port.

    Order goes

You could put adapters on the card to change their priority (if you have enough higher level connections).

E.G. - You have three monitors, one DP, one HDMI, one DVI. Change the DVI to DP so then the HDMI becomes the primary during boot.

I'm not sure how it works but I have my 24" on a DVI to HDMI for months. Then I added 2nd 17" VGA for email view. Always boots with the 24" in charge. But after I was overclocking and wiped the cmos, now the VGA display has priority and reverts back to the DVI after Windows 10 loads. I did nothing with the software, just reset the bios.

Well the only thing you can do is make it primary display in Windows under settings, that's about it.

It's Sad that they don't make a way to access the Video Card Bias to instruct it to tell what port order to be.
Yes I can witch in Windows that's not the issue. My objective is to make the Display Port primary so that when I'm booting PC then that is the monitor (30") that I can see the CMOS Boot on.  I tried switching the cables for my 30" to have DVI, however the quality of image on screen was barely readable.
Thanks Scarlet-Tech for your answer and Boot Order.

I can make the DP boot first by hitting the power button on my DVI and waiting till it boots up before turning it back on. I really don't care to use this method unless I want to tweak the bios settings and use the larger display. Otherwise I just deal with it.

I have a puzzle for ya... On my 980ti I have my primary monitor connected to DVI-D. My secondary monitor is older so it only has VGA or DVI so I used a DVI to HDMI adapter to the 980ti.

Problem is: My secondary monitor shows BIOS/POST screen when, according to everything I've heard, DVI is the priority and HDMI is secondary. Once I get to windows my primary monitor acts perfectly normal as my primary monitor.

Also, everything was perfect until I did a clean-install from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I also updated all my motherboard and chipset drivers. Doesn't seem like this could be related but it literally started right afterwards.

    Any ideas?

I know it does make a difference in Windows 10 primary monitor destination under settings, not just in the Nvidia CP.

Edit: I tried unplugging the DVI monitor and boot off the DP, went into the bios to verify, boot into windows and shutdown,
Then I only plugged in the 2nd monitor but left it off and it still stopped outputting to the DP?

Problem solved: Enable CSM in bios. Change video boot parameter to UEFI only. Now it will check the UEFI setting in windows and make that the primary boot display, even if it's on DP like my Dell G-sync monitor.
