I've been waiting for a 4K play Blu Ray player and at 129 dollars that is a bargain. Can't wait for availability.

    129 bucks, that's insane.
The Oppo203 is well over 500 bucks and a XboxOneS is 300ish.

Been waiting for this. Now I need the real skinny on hardware requirements. So far, all I have found is that intel Kaby Lake GPU is the only graphic option. What's with that? Also, strange the only software out to play  back encrypted Ultra Blu-Ray is the bundled PowerDVD 14. I imagine there will be a patch for 16 soon.

This helps explain the insane hardware limitations.
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/11069/pioneer-announces-ultra-hd-bluray-supporting-bdrs11j-drives

Intel’s SGX has to be supported for everything (hardware and drivers) + AACS 2.0 + HDMI 2.0a This includes Intels own chipset that may support SGX but not AACS2 or visa versa.  Still checking, but apparently SGX is not supported in Nvidia/AMD drivers rendering everything dependent on Intel hardware. Did the government somehow get involved in this because it sure seems like, ho brother...

Is there even a motherboard out that supports the drive? EVGA's Z270 stinger only has HDMI 1.4 or DP 1.2

Hollywood is hyper-paranoid of AnyDVD to the point it'll purposefully kill the PC Blu-ray 4k market.

Nope, won't work with AMD anything. Won't work with Nvidia. Won't work with any motherboard available AFAIK because of the lack of a supported display out sockets for integrated graphics on Kaby Lake. Unbelievable bunch of bureaucracy by idiots.

Hollywood again shoots itself in the foot. With these onerous DRM requirements, I will be sticking with standard Blu Ray for the foreseeable future.

This is what I found out so far. AFAIK this is the only MB that will support UHD Blue-Ray play back (there are two others, read on).
    http://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z270%20Gaming-ITXac/index.asp#Specification

While the HDMI socket is physically the same it supports HDMI 2.0a (the "a" being HDR support. Often the version type is not included in motherboard manufactures specifications). This is accomplished by adding a MCDP28x0 chip to the Motherboard.
    http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/8018/asrock-fatal1ty-z270-gaming-itx-ac-motherboard-review/index4.html

This coupled with Kaby Lake and the 630 integrated GPU, Pioneers BDR-211UBK, and Windows 10, will make playback with HDR possible supporting HDCP 2.2 and Intel SGX (which is something that needs to be turned on in the BIOS).

AND THEN I just saw this at Cyberlink's knowledge base which would include Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming 8 and 9 boards. Check it out for there build requirements.

Would be nice to see EVGA offer a Mini ITX with this support :)

awesome leg work Beans TY 4 sharing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe certain AMD cards and Nvidia cards support HDR / HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2.

If so wouldn't they also work like the 630 IGPU?

Nope because it requires Intel SGX for the decrypt keys.

The work around would be to have both integrated and dedicated graphics enabled. For UHD Blue-ray playback and general Home Theater use you would use Intel integrated running the HDMI to the TV. For gaming run a separate cable from your Nvidia/AMD card to the TV. While I haven't done this it's my understanding you can change between gpu's and apparently there is a way to do this automatically when starting certain apps. Some laptops do this I guess. You would then have to change the input on the TV as well of course, but still, it's all possible from the couch.

Personally though, I figure I'll just stick with a deducted HTPC with Windows 10 and a Media Center band aid added to keep my Ceton InfiniyTV 4 going for my cable TV content. Playing 4K movies from it would be nice too.

Thanks for the work around @ILikeBeans seem like I've done this once before when IGPU was introduced Intel had propitiatory software to manipulate it but to many hoops to jump through for everyone in this house except me. It's going to get better or I won't be climbing on board and they won't be selling to many of those drives. I'll just use my dedicated 4K UHD/HDR player to play 4K disc and stream on my HT monitor letting it do all the heavy lifting. It would be nice to have it seamless through a dedicated HTPC but there has always been way to many hoops to jump through with them too. I basically gave up because I spent more time trying to get everything to work than enjoying it.

I hear you. I'm a die hard when it comes to using the HTPC as my DVR  though. After that, everything else seems easy lol. Yah, I wouldn't recommend it for everyone, it can become like another hobby.

Unless you're in the market for a new system it's probably not worth it. Only a few motherboards meet the requirements.

I might get a stand-alone player in the future.
