Evga states in their rules that the price on the uploaded invoice will be used. If you read all the other threads about the step up program you can find all kinds of other info and opinions on this.

Oh, my bad.. i think i expressed it wrong:

The GTX 1080 is now heavily reduced in the online-shop of EVGA, but not in the Step-Up program.

My Question is: Will the prices of the 1080 drop in the Step-up program as well?

The price you get for your card has nothing to do with what it says on the page. You get the price you paid as shown on your uploaded invoice.

Oh wait are you saying the price as in the cost if you wanted to say step up to a 1080 now?

Yes, exactly. I want to step up from 1070 to 1080, but the price for the 1080 in the shop and the price at the step up program differs (hugely)

If the price for example of a 1080 came down on the step up program, then it follows that the price of your card..say a 1070 would also come down...so the difference would still be the same.

What's not to understand? The price you paid on the invoice you uploaded to EVGA when you registered your card will be the value or credit you will receive when figuring the extra cost in the step-up. Both your links show the same price, so I cannot even begin to understand your issue.

At this point we don't know when or if the prices within the step-up will drop. But if I were you I would send an email directly to customer support and ask them. They might even be able to adjust it manually for you.

That is not how step-up works. The price you get credited in the step-up program is based off of the invoice you uploaded along with card. The details of the step-up program are quite clearly listed.

http://www.evga.com/support/stepup/

Calculating Step-Up Costs

Simply put, the cost of EVGA Step-Up is the difference between what you paid for your original product and the new product as listed at the EVGA Store. To calculate what you paid, follow these simple steps:
  • Add line item price
  • Do not include taxes
  • Do not include shipping
  • Subtract rebates from the line item price
  • Subtract from MSRP as listed on EVGA.

Example

You have purchased a graphics card for $299.99, tax was $26.25 and $10.25 in shipping, you also took advantage of a $30.00 rebate from EVGA. The product you wish to Step-Up to is listed as MSRP of $399.99.
  • Add $299.99
  • Ignore $26.25 tax and $10.25 shipping
  • Subtract $30.00 for rebate to get $269.99
  • Subtract $269.99 from $399.99
  • $130 is the cost of this example, plus return shipping and applicable taxes
Return shipping (from EVGA back to you) is variable dependent upon your location, current rates and shipping speed you select.
Residents of California are required to pay sales tax for Step-Up transactions.

You're welcome. And right now don't be too hard on the mods, the volume of posts in the last few days has been crazy, and what's worse almost all of them have been asking the same thing over and over (when is the 1080ti step-up happening). That is most likely why they didn't get to your post yet and why even I was misunderstanding right off of the bat. But it was a different and good question so hopefully cust support can give you a decent answer.

I don't blame the mods for anything, i know they do a very good job and even took their time to help me with a problem here not long ago.
I just felt a little bit trolled by so much misunderstanding

But then again, there are people around here that read, understand and know what they are talking about

Did you receive any reply? I was also wondering about this. I have the same difference between the evga store price and the step up price.

There are aome updates coming that were missed during the recent update.if you look at BStock right now, it costs more than the brand new cards. EVGA is aware of this, but they were headed out of the door for the weekend when they realized it, so there will be updates soon. I will make sure they are aware of this as well, and take a look and try to get an answer for everyone. Sorry about the delays. It has been crazy busy on the forums.

Also, i moved this to the step up forum, since it is a step up question.

I got an answer from EU Support... Might be interesting for some of you...

"Your Answer:
Hello,

The pricing and terms and conditions of the StepUp Program are separate from the online store. The StepUp program does credit you with the amount of your original purchase and you only pay the difference. Please let us know if we can assist you further.

Regards,
EVGA"

@ Scarlet-Tech: Thank you for your answer and for moving the post. I guess i'll just have to wait a bit.

@HDYves: See above, i quoted their reply. Then again, i believe, Scarlet-Tech's post contains the better information.. We'll have to wait a bit

@u.deee:

Thank you for the update, I have also received a reply from EU Support today which answers our question:

"Thank you for contacting us today. The Step-Up price should be adjusted shortly as we only recently updated the prices on the website. If you have requested a Step-Up but still have the old price shown and have not paid for the Step-Up, please contact us again so that we may adjust the Step-Up price for you."

@Scarlet-Tech:

Thank you for helping us out and giving us a piece of mind over the weekend! Highly appreciated.

Good to see that the prices will be changed shortly. I figured as much.

Tis a shame though about the different responses. I appears that whoever answered u.deee's message just did the simple copy paste response, while HDYves got someone who actually looked into it.

@Scarlet-Tech: Thanks for the post with the info, always appreciated. Though I am starting to wonder if you are a cyborg or android, I mean do you ever sleep anymore?

I just checked again - the prices have not been updated yet.
Let's agree that the first one who spots the price change posts here in the forum so the others see it via email notification and can start their step-up as early as possible in the queue.

Thanks in advance guys!

@u.deee

Thank you for the notice! How many days did you have remaining on your step up?
I have the same card as you and wanted to also step up to the 1080 SC just as you did, but still thinking if i should wait a bit and see if the 1080 Ti will be included in the step-up. Currently 54 days left.

I've got 61 Days left.
As far as i understand the step up programm, within these 61 days i can always stop the step-up and join a new one (1080ti in this case).

Honestly: The 1070 was exceeding my budget so far (replacing a r9 290), i think i'll keep the 1080sc...
