Hey guys,

Ive been having an issue where I can't boot correctly from my windows 10 USB stick. My system recognizes it, tried legacy, fast boot off, but it boots to z170 splash screen, then fades to a black screen as if it was going to the windows 10 install menu but stays black. I tried unplugging all my USB devices, tried using 1 stick of RAM... to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to install Windows.

Have you tried changing the boot priority to place removable disks at the top of the list? Does the USB stick have an activity light that is showing any signs of life during the black screen? What is the source of the USB? I have heard stories of people getting defective sticks from Microsoft, but building their own installation USB from the online tool works.

What is the POST code you are seeing when it reaches an idle state?

Since you are seeing the post screen, I have to ask, where is your monitor connected?  To the GPU or to the onboard?  Have you checked the initial display adapter in the bios?

regardless off boot order a USB install disk should pick up and boot before a OS load has been the case of my FTW very solid 100%

I have been doing a lot of Hyper V, triple-quad-quint install testing. I use Rufus, WinSetupFromUSB-1-7, Yumi, and a couple more have ended up with some funky left over drives never pulled black screen. Sounds like GFX possibly when did you flash BIO's?
