hi guy's.
I recently purchased purchased a 1070 FTW and am interested in stepping it up to a 1080 FTW. I am wondering if this is possible or am i limited to the basic evga 1080?

You'll be limited to the reference 1080.

Would the same apply to my case. I just got my EVGA 1080 SC2 ICX on Friday and would like to step up to a 1080ti if I can?

Yes, the same would apply to you if/when the 1080 ti is added to the step-up program.

The 1080 ti is a completely different card than the 1080 SC2. A reference (founders) 1080 ti will outperform the 1080 sc2 easily. If you wish to continue this discussion please create your own thread as you're currently hijacking BeverageBear's thread.

Sorry but according to EVGA's step up page, the 1080 SC ACX is available to step up to.  While it may not be the FTW, from what I read he would not be limited to the founders 1080.  Is this not correct?  I only ask because I may be interested myself in the step up to a 1080 ti but you seem to be offering conflicting information from what is on the step up page.

Reference refers to the pcb, not the clocks. Yes, the sc is occasionally on the list, but the only difference is a factory overclock. Its simply a bios change.

The founders edition is in reference only to a cooler itself.

OK thanks for the clarification.  Sajin mentioned "reference (founders)" in post #6 so it had me a little confused.

Imagine when nvidia first launched the founders edition, and charged $100 more, just for the cooler, lol. Everyone was like, "omg, they are binning the founders cards to be perfect overclockers and are going to be way better than any other card out there..." then the hopes and dreams were busted with the announcement that it was simply the stock cooler, and nothing really "special" about the pcb or core, lol.
