I don't think I can add much to this article except to emphasis to everyone that sufficient rest (sleep), food, and breaks are an absolute must for marathon gaming of any type. Take care of yourself.

Wow that is really sad, a good cause turned fatal , and who would have thought...

This isnt the firsr time. Multiple deaths were reported in 2016 of extended streams and extended gaming sessions.

With all the media attention to ^ and reports of people dying during these long gaming sessions, it honestly blows me away that people still do these super long gaming sessions.

What about people that cannot walk? Probably should wait until at least an investigation into his death is completed before blaming his gaming marathon which i dunno the full details but they did say he was taking a break. It seems reasonable that if he was taking a smoke break he had done so earlier in the marathon as well due to the addictive nature of smoking. Altho when considering all the ways to die, i think a gaming marathon would fall in 2nd place right after sex with my wife in the best ways for me to end it all. But i get the feeling that wont ever happen considering a brown widow bite to the face couldnt stop me.

My guess is that this has been going on since the first PC and consoles were sold. One would think that it happens just as often when people binge watch Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Well I haven't seen anyone binge watch Netflix for 22 hours but when watching long bouts of TV people are more apt to get something out of the refrigerator, or go to the toilet more often then when they are engaged in binge gaming. People tend to move around more when binge watching TV. The same needs to apply for people on long airline flights. They need to stretch often and get out of their seats a few times. 

Yah I can see how marathon gaming has a unique way of keeping you up and putting you under a certain kind of stress that wouldn't happen in other situations were you could dose off. Gaming can elivate the heart rate and whatever, while not exercising, like say some military situation might keep you up like that in a highted focused state, but you are more than likely very active. IDK, but there is something crazy going on here, better to be careful.

People that can't walk won't stand to allow the clots to move to the heart

The circulatory system, needs movement, and oxygen to stay healthy. My late wife was wheelcahir bound and always being on us butt isnt healthy...

Hit the stairs for 20mins daily, does wonders, along with some outdoor sunshine....
