Hi,
I've been selling on Amazon for years (mostly used computer parts), and a few months ago they started requiring permission to sell even used graphics cards on there. Right now I'm trying to list a "GeForce 9400 GT 1GB DDR2 PCI-E 2.0 Graphics Card" and it won't let me.

A couple months ago I contacted EVGA for a permission letter, but they just went and ignored me.
While I could go through the work to buy 30 new evga cards, so I can get wholesale invoices, it seems like a lot of work just to sell 1-2 used cards a month.

Getting the permission letter seems it would be the easiest way.

That is, if someone from EVGA would give me the time of day to talk to me.

Can anyone help?

Do yo know if it was EVGA who requested Amazon to add that policy?

Wonder if this means will no longer see stuff like this on Amazon.

Please understand that this is a policy put in place by Amazon and you only need three invoices showing that you are buying the product from a distributor to be authorized to sell on Amazon.

In this case since the product is used and these invoices are not available, then we would recommend considering an auction site or maybe the for sale or trade forum.

I would also like to mention that we are unable to control pricing on any re-sellers sites and it is always recommended to check the recommended MSRP pricing at EVGA.com prior to making a purchase, if this is a concern.

It isn't just 3 invoices. It is:
Include the name and address of the manufacturer or distributor
  • Show the purchase of at least 30 units across all invoices
  • Show the purchase of at least 5 different products of EVGA across all invoices

It is only on some companies and not others.
I got a gtx 1080 classified, and just got around to install it but it doesn't fit in the case. So i'm just selling a "used" but never used card.
This kinda sucks and thank god it wasn't around when then 1080s came out (i got 8 of them .. 4 for each system.. before nvidia said we couldn't unlock 4 way SLI. I lost money, but still sold all of them.)
But now i'm stuck. i'm not touching ebay :)

You could use evga market place (on the forums) or heatware market place, just make sure the person has good feedback or decline to sell it to that person.

I've never been able to post anything on the evga seller forums for whatever reasons.
I'm going to bug everyone i have on steam (right? please liked to be bugged by "friends" on steam to buy stuff :) )
but $550-$600 for a new 1080 classified is a good deal. (not for me tho! but my fault for not seeing if it fit in the Hadron Air)

I did get a normal SC in there. looks pretty sweet.

thanks sir!

this still make me less likely to get an evga card going forward. I normally buy 4-8 high end cards a year - while reselling (and a good fair price) my old ones on amazon.

Isn't that what EBay is for? I don't think Amazon want to become EBay, that could explain the need to show you are a bulk reseller.

Sorry to bump an old thread but according to Amazon, this restriction was requested by EVGA.

Amazon SupportThe ASIN B00YDAYOK0 is restricted by the Brand owner to list against the Brand "EVGA".

I too have sold many computer parts on Amazon. I was hoping to sell my EVGA 980 Ti so that I could upgrade to an EVGA 1080 Ti.

Both what you and Chris have stated is mostly correct.  I can't go into details regarding agreements between EVGA and Amazon for obvious reasons, but this is Amazon's policy, which other manufacturers are also following.  It's...somewhat inaccurate to say that EVGA requested the restriction.  It's more complicated than that, of course, but legalese usually is.  With all due respect to Amazon Support, their representatives would not likely have more detail than what you listed.

Opinion - As others have noted or skirted around, this is Amazon's way of policing counterfeit and used products.  I understand that this may make it more difficult for some to sell used products, but Amazon seems to want to clean up the appearance of permitting unauthorized products, or avoiding issues with customers who do not understand the difference between authorized resellers of products and unauthorized resellers.  That's what makes sense to me, but this is just speculation.

Re: Permission to sell used EVGA graphics cards on Amazon? 2019/01/15 15:13:52 (permalink)
As of now, it's even worse:
Amazon requires you to show receipts from the past six months.
I was building my own water cooled boxes and decided it's not worth my time.
So I have eight 1080Ti Hydro Copper cards that I bought about eight months ago (some from Amazon!), all in shrink-wrap except two i opened for inspection.
After sending in my receipts to Amazon, I was told that I'm not eligible to sell them there because the receipts are more than six months old.

So I've got $10,000 worth of really nice shrink-wrapped paperweights, except that will a little more time and effort I can list them on EBay, ship them to the bidder, and then have them decide to not pay me.

Great.

PS - Same thing for ASUS motherboards.   Really glad I bought all these nice high-quality components.
PPS - I'm not buying the "counterfeit and used products" argument when the items were bought from Amazon, LLC or EVGA and are in shrink-wrapped boxes with serial numbers
PPPS - Dear EVGA, what's your policy on return for refund on unopened products?

Returns are within 14 days for items purchased directly from evga.com. Any purchase from a third party site, authorized retailer or not, must go through the place of purchase. If the hardware was purchased 8 months ago, you are long out of the return window.

You can view the return policy anytime on the evga website under warranty and returns at the top of the page.

How can you call them paperweights when they're working cards? Doesn't make sense.

What if you just leave the brand name out of the listing? Is that an option? Call it a GTX 1080 Ti Hydrocopper instead of an EVGA GTX 1080 Ti Hydrocopper?

I wonder if you have to do the same for other manufacturers? I do remember in the early days of the RTX release, people were auctioning their "spots" in line for RTX pre-orders...
