Had this old X58 SLI FTW board for years ever since I put together my first decent computer way back in 2009, but lately the little 40mm northbridge fan has been making noise like a rusty chainsaw. I swear I thought it was one of my case fans or GPU fans it was so loud, but took them all out and still tested it, and it's definitely that one tiny little fan. So loud!

It's probably not safe to just go without it, but is there any hope for a replacement these days?

If it still spins well speed wise, you can take it apart and clean the shaft and internals, reoil it and it will run fine again as long as it's a bushing/bearing mechanical setup. If its a sealed unit then you'll be stuck replacing it no matter what. EVGA most likely doesn't have those fans but you can strap any other fan on there without too much trouble.

I got a ftw3 board that did not come with a fan so the bridge there was getting into the 90's C so i put an extra 90mm fan over with with some moding to support it now when i could barely get my i7 930 chip past  3.3 ghz and my x5650 past 3 ghz i can now get the 5650 to 4.2 and the bridge stays in the 50's might be over kill but i did not want to buy another fan and that was laying around

Took me awhile to figure out that my occasional  fan rattle was caused by my chip set fan. Send an email to evga support and they replaced the fan for free including shipping. Great support for a mother board that I bought 8 years ago. The fan is a power logic plb05010s12h. EBay has them for around $14. Looks like a simple replacement, just 2 screws hold it onto the heat sink. Will try to remember to post if there are any difficulties in replacing.
