Have used nod32 most of the time, can't complain.

I rely on Windows Defender. I pair it with Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D. And instead of only reactive measures, as a preventative measure I use Spywareblaster to inoculate my browsers regularly. If I'm given reason to be paranoid I'll run a standalone AV scan. But I don't use active always-on AVs anymore (except Windows Defender) for many of the reasons already mentioned in the article.
