I've just spotted a new bios version for the 980ti hybrid recently uploaded on techpowerup.com

My current bios version is '84.00.36.00.90' and the latest compiled in November seems to be '84.00.41.00.F0'. I compared both in the maxwell bios tweaker but couldn't find any obvious changes. So I wonder what the kind of changes have been made under the hood to make this new version necessary? Could someone from EVGA clarify please?

Various changes in production such as different memory or power management component changes can warrant a different bios. EVGA will need to tell us what was changed.

Yep that's why I'd like to know if flashing this one on my 980ti Hybrid would yield any benefits

I have flashed the new bios and at first glance everything seems fine but OC capabilities have not been improved, fan profile has not been changed. One issue I had while playing Star Citizen was, that one of my displays went black during gaming. Thought well I game on my other now so it's ok... but upon closing the game my main screen also went black and stayed black for quite a while until I replugged my monitor cables. It never did that before, so I guess compatibility hasn't been improved either with this new bios.

That's why I don't have any pro's as of why I would recommend flashing this new bios other than having "the latest one".

    cheers

I emailed EVGA support about some display port issues I've been having. Many others have seen black screens on boot or after windows launches when using display port. EVGA support game me BIOS  84.00.41.00.F0 to flash, but did not mention any specific changes (fixes). I'll report back if it resolves the issues I've been having.

This is most likely to address the fact that a significant number of people seem to have issues with the 980ti hydrocoppers failing POST.

I myself have had this problem with two new cards and needed the BIOS update to get them to work.
