Hey guys I recently bought the GTX 980 TI kingpin edition. It is to my understanding that the kingpin edition has 3 quick switch for different BIOS. I know the Normal mode has 130% power limit, 150% for OC, and on reviews and other sites such as kingpincooling.com forums the power limit should be 170% for the LN2 Bios

So my question is I have my kingpin GTX 980 TI bios set to the LN2 switch but when I go to EVGA Precision X and when I try to max the power target slider it only reaches a maximum of 150% (same as OC mode).

Shouldn't my power target be able to slide all the way to 170% power target under the LN2 mode (red led lights as indicated on the card)? Somebody please let me know how to fix this or is this normal or is my card not functioning as it should?

Thanks in advance everyone!

On 100% stock out of the box card. No. To get to 170% you'll have to flash the ln2 vbios with a modded vbios that allows 170%.

I am so confused right now. My card just failed a benchmark run from heaven I had to switch off the PSU switch and when i did that and turned on my computer it did some sort of updating and now I am able to view 170% power target for my card. But i didn't need to do anything with my bios except changing the quick switch on the card to LN2 mode.

Did some more research on the card. It does appear that you should be able to set it to 170% out of the box if switched to ln2 vbios. Precision X is pretty buggy, I'd suggest you uninstall it completely, reboot pc, then install the latest version of msi afterburner instead.

When changing the BIOS switch on the GPU, you must power down the system. Are you switching the BIOS with the system power up?

Hey heavy yea I did that twice. I even turned off the switch to off position for my PSU. But I was able to figure it out. I think there might be some registry issues of some kind because before I had a gtx 970 in here. I followed all the steps to clear the nvidia drivers first but i prob missed some hidden files. Tomorrow i'm prob just going to clean install my w10 to ensure I have a fresh drivers for my gtx 980 ti kpe. Thanks for your reply tho!

Left of the three PCI-E 6/8 pin power inputs? Must have missed it.

Thanks
