In case you havnt seen this from WCG Planned Maintenance on Thursday, April 11 9 Apr 2019 Summary We are updating the operating system on our servers on Thursday, April 11, beginning at 14:00 UTC. We will be applying an important operating system update to our servers on Thursday, April 11, beginning at 14:00 UTC. We anticipate that the work will take approximately three hours. During some of this time, volunteers will not be able to upload or download new work, and the website will not be accessible. Volunteers will not need to take any particular action, as your devices will automatically retry their connections after the maintenance work is completed. We appreciate your patience and participation.

RakeSearch may seem down but it is not down for the new RakeSearch for rank 10 No real good info and not Optimized App. Very Long Running Tasks compared to RakeSearch (9) Currently, we test an application for new research and after ending current search you can delete optimized application with app_info.xml (if you use it) and start to receive tasks for new research.

LHC@home: CMS@Home disruption, Monday 22nd JulyI've had the following notice from CERN/CMS IT: >> following the hypervisor reboot campaign, as announced by CERN IT here: https://cern.service-now....outage.do?n=OTG0051185 >> the following VMs - under the CMS Production openstack project - will be rebooted on Monday July 22 (starting at 8:30am CERN time): ... >> | vocms0267 | cern-geneva-b | cms-home
to which I replied: > Thanks, Alan. vocms0267 runs the CMS@Home campaign. Should I warn the volunteers of the disruption, or will it be mainly transparent?
and received this reply: Running jobs will fail because they won't be able to connect to the schedd condor_shadow process. So this will be the visible impact on the users. There will be also a short time window (until I get the agent restarted) where there will be no jobs pending in the condor pool. So it might be worth it giving the users a heads up.
So, my recommendation is that you set "No New Tasks" for CMS@Home sometime Sunday afternoon, to let tasks complete before the 0830 CST restart. I'll let you know as soon as Alan informs me that vocm0267 is up and running again 07/17/2019 14:14:12 · more...

Rake search of diagonal Latin squares: New run for RakeSearch R10Dear folks! We created the first bunch of tasks for new search in rank 10 space. Currently - under Linux x86-64. Renewed search use a new application, runtime increased in several times and new application return more data than previous. If tasks processing is successful tomorrow we add details! :) Great thanks for Daniel from BOINC@Poland for attention, scientific critical perception and help! 07/15/2019 20:49:07 · more...

Any one heard anything about DHEP? The server and webpage have been unavailable for about 4 to 5 days now. I have looked all over for some info on DHEP and can't find a thing discussing why it went down and possible time frame to its return. I am on the verge of suspending the tasks I have and changing to a different project. I hate to spend all this compute time on a project that may not even come back up.

Looks like they are having money issues. Hello everyone, Unfortunately we are having to suspend DHE until we secure funding. A big thanks to all of you who crunched for our project, the BOINC team, and a special thanks to those who volunteered with us in many ways. All the best, Michael

Got an update on it, Apparently they were getting a lot of bad batches (the last of their tasks all errored out) and they most likely took their server offline.

Reviving this thread (which should be under the Crunching subforum) From Universe@Home... 2022-01-05 06:20:53
On January 1, the project server had a serious physical failure. After trying to restart, it started for several hours, but stopped responding shortly after. As it turned out, at least one of his hard drives had physically crashed. As the main server of the project is also the oldest of the machines used in the project, we currently do not have any disk to replace the one that has died, and the other two that are also already old and need to be replaced. We will be ordering new disks soon, and before the end of January I will go to Warsaw to replace them and restart the project server, unfortunately I can't do it earlier. All user data and computed tasks are completely safe on a separate machine (the database server is physically different machine), while all computed results are also stored on a another machine.
Regards,
Krzysztof 'krzyszp' Piszczek Boinc@Poland team member.
