This worked for me using PXOC 609. Navigate to this key in the windows (7x64 in my case) registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\WinRing0_1_2_0 and  change the start entry from 3 to 2. This changes the start to automatic from demand. PXOC now puts an icon in the sys tray in about 10 seconds instead of 30-40 for me.

Another way is to enter device manager and choose show hidden devices. Scroll down to non plug and play drivers. Look for WinRing0_1_2_0 entry and choose properties. Click on the driver tab and change the start type from demand to automatic. YMMV

I have tried and tried to use Precision over time. I actually prefer it over Afterburner. I think its more simple to use and the layout is just better. But man. Its just garbage software riddled with bugs. I go back to Afterburner every time. People complain. We tell EVGA. They just ignore it. So to hell with them if they want to be like that with their software offering. Every since they started making it on their own. Its been pure garbage and continues to stay that way. So if you want stability and not buggy. Use Afterburner.

I'm done with Precision until they fix the A) Slow startup, B) not-required to shutdown the software enable/disable SLI. When those 2 items are resolved that's when I know their programming skills have become sound, finally.

Bump....

Same issue here its gotten worse.  Ive basically reinstalled Windows 8.1, drivers, updates, and precision X 16 5.3.1.  Right after I log in my keyboard input is extremely slow for ~15 seconds there is a huge typing lag (as soon as I log in I open notepad, npad++, or firefox and can clearly see typing lag as I mash keys).  All the keys I pressed will eventually catch up all at once after ~15 secounds.  This only happens with PrecisionX enabled (either just startup settings or starting the whole app with windows).

System
5930K
Rampage V Extreme
Corsair Dom Plat 3200 16GB RAM
EVGA 780GTX Classified HC
Corsair K70 RGB
Logitech G13

No other monitoring software or any software except for Windows 8.1, Drivers, and all OS updates.

Now this issue appears in older versions but lasts only 2 seconds or so (like 5.2.5 and 5.2.7).  Uninstalling PrecisionX 16 will remove this issue.  I have also tried 2 other keyboards and uninstalled the corsair/logitech software with no change with the above behavior. Of the few previous versions I can find it seemed like 5.2.7 was the best.  I also tried that other popular GPU overclocking software which works with no issues as well but I'd rather not use that software unless I have to.

I can't believe its been two years since I posted this and the same thing happens except with all new hardware and windows 10.  Just purchased the EVGA 1080ti FE and installed the latest Precision software.  Guess what! Same exact bug.  Back to afterburner (again).

Why hasn't this been fixed yet?  It's extremely annoying.

The slow typing bug is still on... 1080 ftw and windows 10, lastest version of precision X. I cant believe EVGA would not solve this until now

Same issue for years and I don't know why I put up with it.  I have 2 choices.  Put up with it or uninstall.  sigh.

It seems to have become much worse with the 6.1.16 update. Between this and the fact that OSD crashes nearly every game I play, it may finally be time to switch to Afterburner (which sucks, because I run EVGA graphics cards). How has this issue been allowed to persist for YEARS?

Why has this not been fixed, I'm forced to use EVGA Precision to control my FTW 3's fan speed...

EVGA really need to do a complete overhaul of this software. It's slow, buggy and the UI is just plain terrible...

Look at other software like CAM for example, or MSI Afterburner they are miles better than what EVGA provide.

The newest version of Precision XOC 6.2.5.1 still-

1- is slow to load
3- causes keyboard lag when it starts

Are these effects universal? My system is Windows 10 64 bit with a fast SSD and 8th gen processor.

In the latest versions of XOC the splash screen (probably soon to be removed) revealed to everyone just how long it does take the program to start while LOADING... was staring them in the face.
