I just installed my new 2x GTX 970s (http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-1970-KR) and installed the newest drivers (344.16). I have connected the primary card's HDMI port to my LG 49UB8500 4K HDTV on its HDMI 2.0 port using the HDMI cable that came with it. In the NVIDIA control panel, I do not get a 60Hz option at 4K except under the "PC resolutions" section which when selected reduces the color quality (4:2:0 chroma subsampling) just like my GTX 670s did. The main reason I bought these was to get 4K60 at full 4:4:4 RGB. Disappointing, to say the least.

Can someone from EVGA confirm whether these cards have HDMI 2.0 or not?

Scratch that, I just had to enable the "Deep Color" setting on my LG TV. Glorious 4:4:4 color @ 4K60 is mine!

Oh good, nice to see you found a solution. You should post some pictures though! I've got my computer hooked up to a 55" 1080p in my living room, so I can only imagine what a couple of 970s next to a 4k tv would look like. Bet thats amazing. Have you tried gaming yet? Do the 970s pull their load well?

Well I've only spent a few minutes with it so far, but to be honest I was a little underwhelmed by the single GPU performance at 4K, and even more disappointed at the SLI microstutter at 4K. Good framerates but the stutter makes it worse than just disabling SLI.

This was only in one game, and an older, DX9-based game at that (Tribes: Ascend), but as it's one of my favorite games it does mean more to me than most. Will try on some other games later.

edit: Much better results with another game, Assetto Corsa. After figuring out how to get SLI working (set reflection faces per frame to 6 in the game's options) I am able to run at 4K with all max settings and 4xAA at around 60FPS. No discernible microstutter.

You sure you didn't do anything else other than enable Deep Color?

I don't have the LG, but my Samsung HU8550 seems stuck at 4:2:0. Outputs 4:4:4 fine in 30 Hz.

What HDMI cable are you using?

    Nope, that was it.
Just using the HDMI cable that came with the TV. It says Freeport 4K x 2K High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet on it, that's about it.

You connecting straight to the TV or through a receiver?

Also just tried with a cheap ProHT #08240 cable and still works fine, 4:4:4 at 60Hz.

Straight to the TV. Might have to try a different cable, I'm not sure what else it could be at this point. There is no Deep Color on my Samsung but I enabled UHD Color Mode  which seems to be the equivalent. The manual says 4:4:4 @ 60 Hz is supported with that on.

I did have to power the TV off and back on after changing that setting, but that's it.

4:4:4 is fully supported on 970/980 as long as the TV supports it.

It could default to 1.4 which limits HDR to 30Hz refresh rates. Try to manually change HDMI inputs from AUTO, reboot, and start working again.
