I know the product specs on the box say the maximum memory supported is 16gb, but is there a bios revision that will allow me to put a maximum of 32gb of ddr3 memory in the motherboard? I need to run lots virtual operating systems. Thanks. this is my motherboard

I think it has more to do with the memory controller on the CPU than the motherboard.

Intel says the i7 2600k can support 32gb of memory... but still, the box my motherboard came in, and the specs online say maximum 16gb... so i'm still confused and want to know if it is possible with the z68 FTW before I spend money on more ram.

the Z68 FTW 'officially' only supports 16 GB of RAM.  However, SB supports up to 32.  As the memory controller is on the chip, I'm not sure if EVGA states the limit of 16 GB due to the potential use a of 32-bit OS.  Obviously - that is purely a wild guess.

Would be so nice if someone in EVGA could test it without us having to blow money on 32GB of ram just to find out we need to go through the trouble of returning half of it.

Your lucky that 16GB in 4 x 4GB sticks work on your system, cause most of the time when all the ram slots are full problems can happen. Ussually its recommended to go 2 sticks only on ram to be less stressful on the memory controller, either 2 x 1GB, 2 x 2GB, 2 x 4GB, or 2 x 8GB

Yeah that's why I picked the 1600. Pushing faster speeds can always be problematic with more more sticks. Plus the fact that I've always read timings > speed for most things.

I was running 16 GB (4x4) of 1600 RAM.  I could never get my timings to set on the Z68 FTW board - either the XMP Profile setting or manual.  I kept thinking it was/is the BIOS.  Once I dropped down to two sticks and 8 GB, I had zero issues with my timings.  Now running the established XMP settings.

I have been checking this thread for years lol.

For documentation purposes I would like to provide some information.

Last night I installed 32gb of DDR3 into my EVGA z68 SLI. I have it stable and running at 2133mhz! Note: I am running the latest BIOS and an IB i7-3770
    I am using:
    Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2400MHz PC3 19200 Desktop RAM
I plan on tweaking it a bit to get to 2400mhz. Currently at 1.65v to get to 2133mhz. 2133 might actually be the sweet spot because I don't want to give it much more voltage.

    CPU: i7-3770k @ 4.5Ghz 1.35v
    MOBO: EVGA z68 SLI
    RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 @ 2000Mhz 11-12-11-31 1.65v
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 TI SC2
    STORAGE: Raid 0 2x SanDisk 256gb x300s SSD

Ha I forgot about this thread. I also tested and worked with 32GB! But I went back to 16Gb. Its only my gaming rig so no need for more than 16 just yet.

I have my 3770k overclocked to 4.7ghz and with a 980ti, I have zero need to upgrade. Even with games like Dying light at 2304x1440 I get between 80-100fps with max settings except vsync. Will be a while before a video card chokes this 3770k. :D

I currently run the 3770 (not k, not overclocked) and 1070 gfx card. I might look into getting the K version but right now I haven't had anything give me trouble. I'm surprised I've got 5 years out of this MOBO and still am keeping up w/ modern games.

I just got the 3770k and setup water cooling. Curious, what settings do you have in bios for the cpu to get up to 4.7ghz?
