Well folks... The seat officially collapsed today (Literally, I fell out of the chair because the back collapsed towards the floor unexpectedly) . I wore it out!

So I did what any reasonable person would do. I spent three hours surfing, analyzing, reading reviews and landing on this final decision...

I present my new chair that I just ordered. The Sparco 00965NR, R333 Black Street Competition Seat and a slider kit with bolts just to be safe.

Pretty stoked!

LMAO, you actually fell outta the chair!!!!!   Sorry I lughed AB but that's pretty funny. I actually have a captains chair from my brothers mini van we took out that im gonna mount on a heavy office chair tripod and see how long that holds up. Any other office chair weve all had eventually just falls apart.

Yeah, even the wife thought it was hilarious.

And I agree on your thinking. It is why I went for a true vehicle type seat this time around. I would like something I can truly use, looks good and fits with the whole idea of a gaming cockpit.

I suspect the Sparco R333 seat will sit a couple of inches higher than the original and what I am using now does. That should not be an issue with how much flexibility that the R3V has built into it. We shall see!

Yeah, the wife def wouldn't be a good source of sympathy probably. It def looks good and I really hope it lasts for ya. Out of all the PC stuff ive had to deal with over the years the stupid computer chair is always the biggest headache, lol. Make sure you update this after you've used it for a bit and let us know what you think. Ill def be interested in whether you think its gonna hold up for ya and how comfortable it is.

*Update*

As a few of you know we purchased a new home last year. Part of the "Must have's" on my list was a theater space and a gaming space without sharing the space. Of course I had much higher items on the list as well. Overall we nailed 18 out of 20 "Must have's".

With that said... Speaking to the gaming space, our home office is actually a pretty decent size. In that office space is a indent that goes above the entryway, next to the stair case. In other words, no wasted space in this home. As soon as I saw this space, I earmarked it for our PC gaming "Stuff" (As the consoles clearly need to be on the 65" 4k in the theater space).

Now to what has been updated or "renewed"...
  •  New soft pad on the keyboard tray
  • Removed the surround monitor system
  • Added QLED 31.5" curved 144hz 2560x1440 Samsung C32HG70
  • Added two polkaudio RTi4's
  • Replaced the Obutto seat with the Sparco R333

Yeah, pretty sweet setup and comfy as can be. Here are some pics;

Nice job AB. Lookin at the picts though it doesn't look like you used any of the Obutto frame, is that true?! I thought you might just unbolt the old seat and bolt the new Sparco to the Obutto's frame to keep all the gadgets etc...

Great question...

100% of the Obutto R3volution frame was use. Even the exact same bolts matched the Sparco threading as well as the mechanical sliders! I sent the Sparco Slider back as I did not need them.

Zero customization was needed. I simply unbolted (I of course measured, re-measured and dry fitted in the process.) the prior seat and mounted the new one.

Oh man, that's awesome it worked out that well. The only reason I asked was because the floor legs looked different to me in some picts, but its hard to tell sometimes with picts. Great job man, I hope this thing holds up for ya.

This is working out fantastic. It is like a brand new unit again. The flexibility this cockpit has is paying dividends for us. We are thinking of putting the steering wheel back on for some racing fun to try the new arrangement.
