Anyone tried X5698s? CPU is not in compatibility list, but it's Xeon 5600 family.
System boots, but CPUs work on 1.60GHz instead of 4.40...
Any ideas what I can with it?

increase the multi and bclk to max stable through bios.

Not on EVGA's support list just means they haven't tested it, they cannot gaurantee function or duplicate problems on their end in order to help trouble-shoot with you. If something were to go wrong and it turned out you used an unsupported processor, EVGA isn't liable, i.e. you loose your mainboard's warranty.

That is why it is recommended you follow what is already on the list.

Just so you know, those ultra high speed dual-core's were not retail processors, Intel made them for a specific customer in the Day Trading market via HP, i.e. a customized CPU and the original customer paid a premium for it.  That would be one reason why EVGA hasn't tested it yet, thus won't support it where the BIOS identifies it and everything runs smoothly.

I can't say you'd have better luck on another Intel board, like I said, X5698 and a few others like them were not retail avialable processors, it isn't even on Intel's catalog website Ark.intel.com, so it wouldn't be officially supported there either.  You'd have to find the original dual 1366 board the CPU was meant for, the special one with support for the original customer; but it may not allow overclocking.

The X in Xeon is not like X in Core processors, the multiplier isn't unlocked.  While like all processors the multiplier can be lowered, which would imply raising it back up, the CPU is not supported by the BIOS anyway.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

Assuming you're getting the 1.6Ghz from CPU-Z are you sure it isn't in power saver mode when you pull it? Disable Intel Speed Step and try it.

lol this xeon looks funny , my e5603 looks better than this .
try increasing the multi and bclk until you expect bsod.

This is not overclocked system, it's a rack-mounted "server" with watercooling (as Tcase for X5698 is 40*C), so I just want these CPUs to work on listed frequency.

It's [Auto] voltage. I changed it to 1.35V, didn't help.

Just learnt that Intel discontinued X5698 support. These CPUs never worked :-(

Did you try when enabling Dummy OC? Enabling that should allow you to change the multiplier & BCLK.
I'd also enable Speed Step & put it under a load to see if it ramps up in speed.

Edit: I also noticed its missing the Turbo option in your screen shot.
Turbo should be right under SpeetStep option.
Maybe try a new flash of the bios on one of the other chips, perhaps its a corrupt bios.
