I right click profile 1 input the settings, when i try and go to another profile everthing
just resets.??? Never used precision x before so sorry if these questions sound stupid.

Hey dont worry man i have been playing with it for the last 4 hours and i still cant work out how to save the settings in a profile and i have used every version of EVGA Precision

personaly this precision x seems tobe crap to me and looks like dog crap aswell why change what was working so dramaticaly that your users cant work your program

not to mention where are the sliders to allow me to change the shader clocks ??? or am i the only missing such an important feature  ?????

im off to find another program i belive someone mentiond Afterburner ill try that or Riva tuner
I dont need automatic overclocking and all the rubish anyway all i need is som fan speed profiles and every thing else can just run flat out this is a  games PC for playing games it runs fast or not at all if i want low power ill turn on my low powerd file server and use that

One dissatisfied EVGA Customer now using another program to run my cards

Right click a profile to save, left click a profile to load.

Also make sure that the pad lock all the way to the right is showing unlocked. If it is showing locked, click on it to unlock it. If it is locked you won't be able to save profiles.

it appears that i have found out how to do this
1.The prfile nuber must be greyed (not set)out then i set the settings i want and click apply i wait 2 secs for the settings to be applied.

2.Then i right click the profile number i want to use with those settings and it saves the current settings to that number profile that is now light up and is brighter than is was before (letting me know it has been set)

When you left click and the profile number flashes green it is telling me that the profile has been activated

No question is a dumb question here.

Right click the profile number and it will be cleared.

Ok, I am new to overclocking and have a GTX 980 classified and was wondering where do I start on an air cooled card. I would like something stable for everyday use and playing games. It does not have to be extreme, I just want to take advantage of the card. :) Also, I pick things up pretty easy I just need a place to start and some do's and don'ts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Forgive me if there is a forum for this already.
Thank you all for you time in advance.

see i do EVERYTHING  but it doesnt work. it just resets after each poweroff or after i close the program
step 1 : right click to activate
    step 2 : modify setting
    step 3 : apply
    step 4 : left click
and when i close the program and open it again its all gone
note* : i disabled all the other profiles except the one i edit which is number 0

ps: it worked now , disabled all profiles , did changes THEN right clicked on one profile and then left clicked on it .

1.Make sure whatever profile you want to set is not highlighted. If so uncheck the profile you want by right clicking...*this will delete a profile if one is set to said number you are right clicking*
    2. Adjust the settings you want and click apply.
    3. After hitting apply just right click the number you'd like to save the profile to so it lights up
    4. You can make new changes at this point to begin a new profile
    5. Freely adjust settings as you'd like and then hit apply.
    6. Right clicking a new number at this point will save your new settings to this profile number. *If you right click on a number that is highlighted you will be deleted the old profile*
    7. Repeat steps 1-5 to make up to 10 profiles

This is really wearing on me.  I have all profile numbers greyed out/not selected.  I apply my settings with and without the padlock locked.  With and without the profile number lit up white.  I turn on the profile by right clicking it's now white.  My settings revert to what they were before when I left click the profile number and it turns blue while saying "profile 1 has been selected"  I'm just trying to change the fan profile a little and make it so the osd is on by default.  Does any one know why this isn't working?

After I restart the computer the fan settings stay the way I want them but the temperature, power, and priority go back.

I can always click on my saved profile and load it that way, but I would prefer to make it permanent; don't want to fire up EVGA PrecisionX every time I want to play a game.    Please help me set my saved profile as default.     Thanks

If you click a profile to load it, then click the "startup" button on the main window, it will load that profile when PrecisionX starts.

For the OC settings to work, Precision must be loaded and active in the background.

Thanks! I had a feeling I was just missing something silly like that.    Added EVGA PrecisionX to my startup folder, and it all works fine now.

I accidentally figured out how to make profiles work in Precision Xoc. Funny as it sounds, it turnes out you gotta "unlock" a profile number in order to save it, and you do that by clicking the RIGHT click on a particular number, and it wont be greyed out anymore. Now you can finally save the damn settings.

I find it's not that intuitive to use profiles ....still messing about with it....does it save different fan profiles to different ones if you set the curves ?

Ive so far saved a set of profiles 8 times. I set several profiles,1,2,3,4,5... then close app, as has been suggested to do, and all works. However if i power down my system, or worse, the driver crashes and recovers, (this the worse possible outcome as i noticed a bad smell coming from computer, and low and behold it turned off fans for all my cards and my 1070 ftw2 was showing 93C, so now i may have 3 damaged EVGA 1070's because of using this EVGA software) all profiles are gone again. is there anyway i can set a profile for my gpu's then remove this "beyond" broken app. Or should i use another gpu control software, like MSI afterburner. Ive not OC my cards, in fact i underclock, (power 70-75%) and only ever used recommended software.

First of all, it doesn't sound like your three 1070's are burned out.  You say that you are still using them.  They must not be burnt out.

Second, quit using Precision!  If you know it doesn't work, why do you keep using it?!  Uninstall Precision.  Reboot.  Enjoy.  The card works by default right out of the box with no software required.  If you choose to continue to use something which you know is not functioning correctly, you have few to blame but yourself.

My cards hitting 93c has not done them any good, and the fact i smelt burning shows they have been damaged.
I know cards work right out of box, but it will use default settings, i want to use the functions that those cards have, and require precision xoc to use, Namely setting lower power draw and led glow of the FTW2, which the only way you can use is to use presicion xoc.

Calling it burning  may not mean it is damaged

An older version of presicion xoc work ok for me - you can thank NVIDIA for teaching us that the latest software is not always the correct one to use.

My cards hitting 93c has not done them any good, and the fact i smelt burning shows they have been damaged.

First of all, if the core reached 93c, it is likely  that other parts of the card were cooler than the core.  The GTX 1070's maximum core temperature rating is 94c.  At 94c core temperature, the card is extremely thermally throttled.  If the core continues to get hotter, the card will just shut off completely by an automatic process.  The VRM is rated for well over 100c.  The memory is rated for 95c.

If there is damage to a card, you would know; and you would be able to describe in what way each card has degraded.  You have not done so.  Therefore, damage is unlikely.

    ASRock Z77 • Intel Core i7 3770K • EVGA GTX 1080 • Samsung 850 Pro • Seasonic PRIME 600W Titanium
    My EVGA Score: 1546 • Zero Associates Points • I don't shill
