Hey guys,

I recently purchased the following to build a workstation for some simulations I'm running which require a great deal of memory:

EVGA Classified SR-2 Motherboard
2X Intel Xeon E5620 Westmere 2.4GHz Processor
2x G.Skill Ripjaws 24GB (6X4GB) DDR3 1333 RAM
Raidmax Hybrid 2 RX-530SS 530W Power Supply
+ a Generic PCIE-16 video card (not doing any gaming so I wasn't worried about graphics cards)

Once I got everything together and booted it up, all the fans turn on and all the lights turn on, but the seven segment LED's that normally show some kind of error code or the cpu temperature show nothing (don't light up at all) and nothing shows up on the monitor and it won't post to the bios.

I know the PSU is rather low, but I figured I wouldn't need anything too high power since I'm not using any high and graphics cards. However, I did borrow a friends Coolmax cug 950b 950W power supply and its still doing the same thing, although when I plug in the power to the pci slots, the fan on the bridge stops, which made me think it still doesn't have enugh power.
I have also tried disabling one of the cpus via the jumper, and also removing all the ram but 1 stick, but the same issue was still occuring.

My power supply only has one 8 pin cpu connector and I noticed two were on the board, do I need a psu with two 8-pin connectors? (I read on a few forums that was only needed for overclocking) Or could the board be DOA? If it is a power supply issue, what would be the minimum cost psu I could get by with?

Thanks for your help!

You need the 8-pin connector to use the respective CPU. You don't need the 6-pin PCIe for each CPU--those are overclocking related.

Try using the CPU disable jumpers to disable the CPU that you can't connect properly. If you can boot with one CPU powered and enabled, you know where the problem is.

Thanks for the response! I had a feeling I needed an 8 pin power connector for each cpu. However, as I said, I have tried using the cpu jumpers and have disabled cpu 0 and just ran cpu1 with the power connected, and visa versa, still getting the same results. Does this mean the psu is not enough for even 1 cpu? Or just that the board could be faulty?

the SR2 with dual 5620 need 800w psu
I have tried with psu under 600w not boot with one cpu active
the ideal  for normal use  no overcloking  1000w with one GPU need pcie power 2x6pin

It's a must to have both 8pin CPU coonectors powered + 6pin connector near first PCIe for proper board operation.

I have the same problem in my evga classified sr-2 motherboard first it was running best but now after shutting down i have booted it up, all the fans turn on and all the lights turn on, but the seven segment LED's that normally show some kind of error code or the cpu temperature show nothing (don't light up at all) and nothing shows up on the monitor and it won't post to the bios. i have faced this problem from 3 days some times it runs but take too much time to post. minimum 15 to 20 minutes. but now i have waited 1 hour but it still not running or not showing any error code on 7 segment it is just not power up...
i have also checked my graphic card on another system it works fine ...
    my specs
    evga classified sr-2
    2 x processors x5690
    24 gb (4 x 6) stics or gaming ram.
    1200w psu
    3 tb hdd
    140 gb ssd
    rx 580 graphics.

I really don't think it needs 800W.....my SR-2 with overclocked 2x X5690 @ 4.3GHz, GT1030, 4 fans and 6 mem sticks consumes 540W in Prime95 which is the worst case scenario in terms of CPU load. Idle and startup is between 210 and 330W. Everything measured from the wall with 1600W T2 PSU.

By the way, do you have anything connected to the USB3.0 ports? My SR-2 goes slow motion (even the beeps) when I have my mouse and KB connected to the 3.0 ports. I would also suggest to try a different power supply.
