Update!

Today ran I BarsWF x64 CUDA on the Dual 285 E6 and it's EVGA GTX 480, here the results:

The Dual 2380 C2 and the EVGA GTX 580 SCE and the EVGA GTX 480:

As you can see the CPU's do a major difference, but the 480, not much really, which was interesting to find out.

2x OpteronDP 285 E6 Italy Dual Cores = 4x 2.61Ghz good for 75.39 MHash/sec about 18.5 per core
2x OpteronDP 2380 C2 Shanghai Quad Cores = 8x 2.51Ghz good for 275 Mhash per sec about 34.5 per core

Here the Dual 2380 and two EVGA GTX 580 SCE's:

You can grab BarsWF x64 from here:
http://3.14.by/en/md5

It supports AMD & Intel CPU's, also it supports NVIDIA's CUDA & ATI Dept. AMD's Stream

Having lots of fun with Just Cause2 with Firefox SMP 2006

Specs in short:

2x Dual Core AMD OpteronDP 285 E6, 4x 2616 Mhz, 2x 2048 KB L2
4x 2048MB PC-3200 ECC Reg HP / Micron Server Ram
ASUS K8N-DL Ver 1.03 + Bios 1010
EVGA GeForce GTX 480 PCI-E 1536MB 384Bit GDDR5 Rev.A3 2110
Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 PCI 64MB XRAM
1x Western Digital 300GB Velociraptor 10.000 rpm HDD
Samsung SyncMaster 943 19" 16:10 TFT

Windows 7Professional x64 + Service Pack 1
NVIDIA Forceware 285.62 WHQL

Game settings:

So here some more pics  I took along the way :)

Here you can see how CUDA renders the water from above:

And under water

As it's surface, the waves are also different from each other, there are no more bitmaps:

it's all one massive mesh, tessellation will be used in Just Cause 3, to create an even better effect in combination with CUDA

The details as the scenery goes, give this game lots of useful filling

The graphics of this game are one of a kind

Here you can see what the Bokeh Filter does in Combination with Motion Blur & CUDA, the effect of being in a very hot Dessert is very well simulated

The Bokeh Filter creates a mirage of water damp in the distance

And here I took off to the skies, as you can see Bokeh Filter & CUDA create a very good effect on how the scenery is rendered below the aircraft, also mixing other methods of rendering to create the perfect picture:

here you can see sun rays penetrating the clouds

Here the landscape is perfectly rendered

The engine used for Just Cause2 would be perfect for a Flight Simulator, everything blends in very well

Even shadows are well rendered, the deeper the water gets the softer the shadows being displayed:

The angle of the place or object also determines the angle of the shadow:

Thanks man

Well I was quite surprised to see what this 5 year and 8 month old system was capable of that game at those settings with its  EVGA Vanilla GTX 480 from Week 21 of Year 2010

It seemed it really gave this old system a good midlife upgrade, every game incl JC2 runs great @ max in game settings @ 1440 x 900 x32, ideal for this system to be my Dual Opteron based LAN system, so far it passed every game out there, the only games that remain are StarWars The Old Republic & Call of Duty Modern Warfare3

But I guess these won't be much of an issue, since Just Cause2 is the most demanding due to the use of DX 10.1 & CUDA, it also has great SMP support as it supports more than two Multi core CPU's which is a rare thing for any type game

Re:Firefox SMP 2006 Rebuild Progress Log. 2012/11/18 14:21:59 (permalink)
it's an old hobby of mine which kinda escalated after my 34 year old computerclub died. I'm like I could sell them but since I am a retro gamer the only serious game I play online competitively wise is Descent 1 & 2.

Games for fun are CoD MW2, JC2 and some games that are upcoming.

The Dual Opty 285 E6 with with GTX 480 uses the Samsun SyncMaster B93 if I would be attending to a LAN, but due to my illness that isn't possible anymore, even though it's my good old LAN box and it never let me down.

the others are just there for use, old programs to new ones, I envy building 2CPU based system as I have been doing since January 28, 2000 and it's just something else that them everyday Core i7, I55 of Phenom II or FX based 1CPU builds, I interest server hardware a lot and as I build along I also make a neat collection on the way

As Overclockings goes or 3D mark that has never gotten my attention or interest, 2CPU Server hardware has always gotten my main attention also due to the higher quality hard components used that are made to last longer than normal conventional hardware under any type of workloads for at least 5 years or more. And that has clearly proven to me as the following systems go:

283.) Gold Leader - Gradinko
253.) Gold Leader - Sveta
252.) Gold Leader - Firefox

Gradinko was built on January 28, year 2000, was used to March 20 2003 I sold it's motherboard CPU's and Ram to a  good friend for 550 EURO, on March 28 of 2008 I rebought it with the same CPU's and Motherboard, same ram, but with a Club3D 9700 Pro, SB Live 5.1, Addtronics 7896 A Server Tower, 80 + 160GB 7200 ATA 1000 Matrox HDD's, Nec 1300A DVD Rewriter , 325 Watt Enermax PSU all for 100 euro, it was a file/game server at his work for 5 years it ran 24/7 without crashing or the need to be rebooted, it also survived a 52 hour blackout, thanks to it's 72 hour UPS power backup system it was attached to, and it was cleaned every month, so I guess all the good care it was given that this made it live it's life which it is doing now :)

It's 12 years and 9 months old as Mobo CPU's and ram goes and t has never failed me since Jan 28, year 2000.

As for Sveta, she was built in 2004, with OpteronDP 244 CG CPU's, I upgraded her once with OpteronDP 248 CG's and now she has  OpteronMP 850 CG's the max CPU's supported by the MS-9130 K8T MAster-2 FAR, i don't use this system much but as usual it still functions dead stable, it's fans are a bit noisy but I don't mind I like how they roar as if it's still willing to come alive rofl! the VGA card the HIS HD 3850 ICEQ3 Turbo AGP 512MB 256Bit GDDR3 aka HIS HD 3870 AGP 512MB GDDR3 was purchased in 2008, still it does it's job fine for them older mid aged games of 2002 to 2006. This system is 8 years and 4 months old and it still functions fine even all the DX9 games out there run fine on it @ 1440 x 900 x32, so yeah, even being over 8 years old you cans till game with it without issues.

As for Firefox SMP 2006, this was a rebuild but the tech of the hardware dates back to Q4 2005 Q1 2006 :)  Don't remember the precise date, but it's about 6 years and 5 months old, as it's tech goes :) the only advanced thing in it is the EVGA GTX 480 from 2010, the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 is from 2007

This system runs all the games I play in DX9, 10 and 11 @ 1920 x 1200 just fine on it's HP ZR24w 24" S-IPS Panel, it's GTX480 and it's PCI-E 1.1 x16 slot is a major saviour to this system :) For lans I use the Samsung SyncMaster B943 which has a reso of 1440 x 900 x32 also a piece of cake for it to handle with

But even my main is from 2009, it has two EVGA GTX 680 SC SE's now and really Dual Opterons last long as they have proved me, you'll never see me go 1CPU again, they just gave me a bad experience the X58 setup like the X79 setup gave me living nightmares, they cost me too much and I didn't get out of them what I was expecting.

So in the end I only buy high quality server hardware as it proved me the best reliable experience ever as life span goes, mainly lifespan of the hardware it's self.

Selling them old PC's is possible but what I'd get from them isn't worth it to me, so keeping them and making them useful seemed more logical to me

Sorry for making this a long read, my Autism makes me go on and on about somethings :X

Here Firefox SMP 2006 with it's NVIDIA GTX 480 Engineering Sample and it's newly applied EVGA GTX 480 backplate:

This is probably the only GTX 480 ES in the world that has an EVGA GTX 480 backplate as well

Here a closeup of the NV GTX 480 ES showing it's EVGA GTX 480 backplate :)

here the upgraded NV GTX 480 ES with it's EVGA GTX 480 Backplate in Firefox SMP 2006:

Here a better closeup of Firefox SMP 2006 from the side revealing it's beautiful coloured lighting

This is by far the best computer I ever built, just how the colours are well divided and spread out as well

Here Firefox SMP 2006 it's self all ready for some games  and fun

That NVIDIA GTX 480 Engineering Sample is loads of fun I also got the Unreal Engine 4 Cave x64 Tech demo's running on it at around 50 fps in max settings @ 1440x 900 x32 and no glitching at all, due to these results it seemed that NVDIIA was very focused on getting DX11 Stable on the Fermi GPGPU over older API's.

I will post a video of the GTX 480 ES in action with UE4's Cave x64 Tech Demo, it's quite amazing on what this old GTX 480 ES is still capable of even only having 1280MB 320Bit GDDR5 and a core/Shaker/Vram Speed which is about 40% less than that of a production GTX 480.

Stay tuned for more on this soon

Just curious, where did you get an engineering sample GTX480?  Do these surface on ebay like the intel chips do or something?

Yeah grabbed it off ebay after ChrisRay told me what one to look for, he told me to seek a Rev.A2 from week 52 2009 or older mine is from week 50 Year 2009, and I knew it was the right card due to the pics the seller applied me after mailing him for more pics of the GeForce led Logo.
The ledlogo traces were traced and led logo power connector were also there as J8 a twin pinned power connector for the LED Logo.

But yeah they tend to pop up on ebay but coming across them is a very very rare occasion.
