So I finally got approved for the step up, naturally 2 weeks ago I just gave my card to my brother because his 5700 XT went out. Is there any way to get the card still without sending it in and pay full price? Or can I get it extended past the 14 days until I get it back? Or am I just SOL? What timing.

I dont have another one to give him, not going to just rip it out and tell him "too bad". It'd be different if I could buy one in the mean time. thats why I'm curious if there is any kind of extension.

I suspect if you don't have the card, you don't have the step up.

Take the card back and send it in.

You can put the 3080 back in your brothers machine when you get it.

    He has to wait.

Kinda what I expected, I guess I can go buy a 1030, or something. Man I feel so bad. Ugh, terrible timing.

Not trying to be "that guy" but what did you intend to do when they called you up for the step-up if you decided to get rid of the card? You need the card you submitted for the step up to get a step up. If you buy a new card for step up, then you'd need to start the queue all over again. So if anything, buy something to put in his system temporarily, or give him your system to use until you get the 3080

What are you using in your machine then? Why don't you just give him the card that is in your machine?

In the future, don’t give away the product, even to family. Have him RMA his 5700xt since it isn’t that old, and give you your card back. If nothing else, have him pay the difference for the step up, and give him the step up card. Either way, you are required to have the card you are trading in, and there is no extension for any timelines, so make a wise decision to refuse the step up or get your card back.
