What is the best keyboard that you’ve used and why? Any recommendations? Mechanical or regular?

Mechanical IBM Model M keyboard. Low Latency, great for typing, and just felt good overall.  Horrible color though, I remember before throwing mine out i had painted it black. I finally gave into the dark side of USB mouse and keyboard and LCD monitors (horrible lag that everyone is used to), but nothing beats CRT VGA and keyboard/mouse PS/2 Connections as far as far as latency, had some of my best gaming days on those. Wish i had kept both the viewsonic CRT monitor and the IBM keyboard.. i still have my logitech ps/2 mouse in a drawer some where. Everytime i think of that keyboard i think of the games i played off floppy drives. Gosh im old.

For the last 3 years I've been using a Glorious GMMK full size mechanical keyboard [link] with Gateron Brown switches and some aftermarket pudding-style key caps and medium o-rings. Very happy with it.

Recently I grabbed an EVGA Z15 keyboard (speed silver switches) and it's also a very nice and very responsive mechanical keyboard. I added some o-rings to quieten it down a little.

I've currently got a Logitech G710+ and recently picked up a Steel Series Apex 7, which while I like the way they designed their wrist rest in some ways, pleases me somewhat less due to the lack of macro keys. If you don't mind that, it's still a solid buy so far. I use cherry blues though (and in particular, the Logitech keyboard only comes with those and is no longer produced sadly - I wasn't really interested in any of Logitech's current keyboards this build), you can get the Steel Series keyboard in their special non clicky in house switch from recollection.

Keychron K1 v4 mechanical keyboard. I like the low profile style and this has been great.

I use a Razer Black widow Chroma. I like that each key has its own LED which means each key can have its own color.

I don't like that the keyboard won't save the color in a hardware profile... You HAVE to use their software if you want custom colors.

If I'm wrong, please let me know so I don't have to deal with having to log in just to enable custom colors on my keyboard...

Any Microsoft Wireless kit I encountered, was pretty silent.

As for my keyboard, I use a Corsair K90 RGB platinum.

I will use this baby as long as it is functional.

I cant complain on the durability either, I've been using it for over 4 years now. and only a few paint peeling on letters S and Z, but due to my carelessness.

I mostly used normal keyboards but I have used some brands especially Logitech G110 and its beast. I like light keyboards with I could carry while traveling, these keyboards are not an option.

You can make any keyboard more or less silent by just changing out the switches. There are many different switches that should allow you to achieve your goal, the main difference will be a feel and or cost.
