Hello!
The majority of the games I play right now have been crashing about 5 minutes into them, and they seem to be only games  that use unreal engine or unity. At first it was coming up in event viewer as an appcrash from D3D, but now it doesn't show a crash at all and shows "Fault bucket LKD_0x141_Tdr:6_IMAGE_nvlddmkm.sys_Pascal_3D, type 0" as a LiveKernelEvent instead.
I am using a EVGA 1080 ti hybrid ftw3 that I recently received from evga after sending my 980 ti hybrid in for a warranty.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks!

What are your full system specs? What is the make/model/age of your power supply? Have you tried to do #4 listed here? If yes, did it stop the tdr error?

Is the card overclocked? Can you try starting the game as admin. Try reinstalling the drivers, after doing a clean uninstall.

    i7-4790K @ 4.00GHz
    Asus z-97a mobo
    16gb DDR3 1866MHz hyperx fury ram
Corsair HX1000i that I ordered in november of last year
and I run my OS off of a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD.
I have tried using EVGA Precision XOC to underclock my gpu from a range of -50 to -200 and and anything past -100 will freeze and crash my pc to where I have to physically power down. I previously ran EVGA 980 ti Hybrids in SLI without issues. thanks for the response by the way!

I've uninstalled all my Nvidia drivers, tried older drivers, deleted them again and am running 387.98 now and the error is still appearing. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling steam and my games to another drive with no success.

    Some things to try...

#1 See if the problem persists while running the other vbios on the card.
#2 Test the card in another pci-e slot.
#3 Try powering the card with a different pci-e cable. Try different outputs on the psu. Try powering the card with two pci-e cables instead of a single cable.
#4 Run the 8k optimized preset on unigine superposition to see if you get the same crash.

Hey guys, got home late and didn't want to mess with the pci-e suggestions tonight. I also don't quite understand what you mean by running the other bios on the card if you could give me some further details, ik, i'm a nub. I did however run the unigine superposition on 8k optimized and it did so without a crash. (btw this is the benchmark I was using that would crash every time when I was testing underclocking my gpu)

Glad to hear you're not crashing at this time. You can see the vbios switch selector in the following pic...

Master vbios has a 117% power target, while the slave vbios has a 127% power target.

I switched it to the Master vbios and went to player unknown battlegrounds to give it a shot and it crashed in about 5 minutes, still with no appcrash report on event viewer and the "Fault bucket LKD_0x141_Tdr:6_IMAGE_nvlddmkm.sys_Pascal_3D, type 0" in it's place. should I switch it back to slave vbios? it was having the crash on pubg on vbios that as well I suppose.

No need to switch to the other vbios since you crashed on both. When underclocking the card did you only underclock the core?

Set the memory clock to -502 and see if you crash or not.

Crashed this time before landing on the ground, as far as the event code, it's just "Fault bucket , type 0" rather than the previous error.

Run it a few more times to see if you can get it to log nvlddmkm.sys as the problem. Make sure you set the memory back to -502 on each run.

Does the nvlddmkm.sys error show up pretty much constantly if you run the card at stock clocks? If yes, it's definitely looking like a card issue as reducing the memory clock to -502 made the nvlddmkm.sys error not show up as much.

it will give me the nvlddmkm.sys any time I run an unreal engine game or unity game within 5 minutes of playing on stock clocks, but will play other games no problem. With the memory clock to -502 it would crash within seconds of actual rendering but only come up as "Fault bucket , type 0". It took 4 tries to get pubg to run long enough for the nvlddmkm.sys to come up with the memory clock at -502.

Yep, running fine in multiple other applications, and crashing in another is a dead giveaway that the card is unstable. Let us know if suggestions #2 & #3 posted in post #6 help fix the problem.

There is a known crash issue involving Unreal  4 and games built with it when run on nvidia drivers.

I feel like i've tried it all and then some and i'm still crashing on 80% of the games I used to play. I was overly excited when I had found out I was sent in a 1080ti ftw3 hybrid in place of my 980ti hybrid but now I can't even play 5 minutes of a decent game.

As a suggestion, have you tried running without Precision installed? When you get it to run correctly the 1080 Ti is  great card.  I am assuming you have updated the BIOS of your motherboard?
Are you running your system fully UEFI or with CSM enabled?

I've uninstalled Precision and I'm just running a clean default 2801, which is the most up to date bios for my hardware.

    Hi all.

I have very similar problem on GTX1060, but I get this faults only if I use internet browser (MS Edge, Firefox). So in Idle mode. Without any BSOD, or another crashes of OS. PC is very stable also in games. No problem found by Memtest or Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool after several hours of testing.
It started from Windows 10 Creators Update 1703 and is still there on Fall Creators Update 1709. Errors are very random and they cannot be predicted or simulated (may not occur for several days).

Please, tell me, how can I test where is the problem. Between majority version of Windows a I made clean installation. I use always latest stable drivers from NVIDIA.
    Thanks.
