Hello! I have a 2080 and one of my GPU fans is loose/busted. (I took it out and couldn't see any visible damage but whenever it is above 60% it makes a rattling noise). I wanted to just completely turn this fan off and have the other running at 100%. But even with manual fan control on, it kicks up the fan that's having issues to 100% rpm. Is this a bug or is there a fix for this? Should I contact EVGA? I tried to set Fan 1 to 0 manually as well as run the temp curve to always be off no matter what but it still kicks on at around 79-80 degrees. Thanks!

**EDIT** I tried to uninstall/reinstall precision as well as use MSI Afterburner and same issue.

At 78-80° is approaching temp threshold so it's probably activating the fan regardless of software settings, if you want the fan of completely just unplug the fan header

You sir have a GPU that has a problem from factory.
Best contact EVGA if you still have warranty.

Most likely the screws holding the fan down may have been loose. Theres been a few instances of that happening from brand new units in the past.It could also be a wire thats too close to the fans too. It may also be that the fan is not installed evenly. With even clearance all the way around and when the fan gets cranked and flexs it just barely touches the heatsink fins, making the noise. If the screws are loose and you run it full power it will move and tweak the whole fan a little also, so you may have a combo issue happening. The fan in the middle and the one closest to where the monitor plugs in are the two most important fans, they cover the gpu/vram sections and should be running ALL the time in my opinion. You def shouldnt be running your gpu at 80c for anything complex and really even the desktop at the temp cause its only going to get worse from there. While slowly cooking the unit its also going to start having hardware issues, bluescreen errors, etc... and when the vram is cooked good enough youll get the lines and colored patterns all over anything you run.
With Afterburner you have to set it up in the General tab and the User Interface tab at least, save those settings and work from there. As far as auto fan control, i dont use it, but you can if you want to. I usually build profiles with the sliders and save them. I make maybe 3 or 4 for different scenarios and its always worked. With my 3070 i ran those fans to my fan controller which worked well, but that was the first card i had tried that with. I dont think im going to do it with my step up card though, but if it seems like its needed then i always can.

well a gpu staying around those temps for a while can damage the gpu so that's probably a measure taken to protect the gpu, but if you want it to stay off regardless you can unplug the fan

I would suggest reaching out to us at Support@evga.com, in case you haven't already. This sounds like the unit will need to be RMA'ed to replace the shroud fan.

As Anthony says, contact support, or . . . get the NZXT G12 and take advantage of this and transform your videocard to a hybrid one.
