Hi there everyone I'm new to the forum and currently waiting for ftw3 ultra hybrid to purchase. Just wanted to ask does anyone that has this card know the exact clearances for fan mounting. And if so how does mounting different fans apply to the water cooler rad. Thanks

It is a standard 120mm fan that is about 25mm thick. You can replace the fans, I recommend controlling them with your motherboard.

I’ve heard that the fan controller is directly off of the card? Would that’s change anything. I have lian li uni fans.

Ignore the fan controller on the card, use your motherboard or other means. That's what I did. Leaves more power for the GPU if it needs it in power limiting cases. And you just get better control of your fans. I use argus monitor to control my fan speeds, works out GREAT!

Sounds good to me thanks so much for the help! Just hoping I don’t have to wait more then 3-4 months for a card at this point :(

Got any data to back that up? I tried running the fans off the motherboard and it didn't impact that board power reading or GPU power reading at all. I built a cable up to pass the PWM and Tach signals through but run the 12V direct from the power supply as well. I didn't bother trying it out though after seeing it made no difference running them off the MB.

The power consumed by the GPU would be the same, it would just be using the power for the card components instead of for the fans. The power budget for the card includes everything on it, fans , RGB, screens, anything on the card.

I was going off the ratings on the fans, 12V/0.5A, so two fans, 12W was what I had in mind and should be observable. But the spec sheet is 0.08A. That's 2W total for two fans... Well within the margin of error here. These are artic P12 PWM fans.
Maybe it would be observable on other fans.
I pointed out the GPU power because that's ultimately the goal, you'd hope that any extra power not used by the fans would go to the core.

The P12s have very low power usage. Although they're also only 1800 rpm. At least with the stock fans, you can easily see the power draw by setting them to min/max speed while the card is idling. It's 5-10w. Now that doesn't guarantee more power will go to the core as it depends on what limit is being hit. If just as an example (I don't know the answer) , the fan power comes from the 3rd 8pin, probably makes no difference at all since power draw on that connector is low all the time. If that were true though, max power draw would actually go down slightly with the fans powered externally. Edit: I was actually thinking of the original 3 fans on the air cooler when I mentioned 5-10w power draw.

Just swapped mine with the 2000 RPM Noctua Industrials and it's pretty great so far...much better than my 3000 RPM 140mm versions in my CPU AiO...they're louder at the same RPM so I assume the 3000 RPM ones in 120mm would be the same noise level so avoid those unless you don't care about noise at all lol. I have them locked at 75% right now and they're keeping my GPU much colder than stock. All of these are more static pressure than silence focused though so definitely just go with Arctic or standard Noctuas if you're into that.

When I use the fan controller on the card, whenever I open a game they rev up past any set fan curves. They will rev on and off anytime my GPU is past 1900Mhz.

That's strange, if swapping the fans to motherboard control isn't an option then you may wanna start a ticket with eVGA. What are temps like?

I have tried the Noctua A12s and the Arctic P12s and they are both so quite they can be ran wide open without much noise at all

Any noticable difference in temperatures between the Artic and Noctua fans?

You don't. No one does. Note: regarding changing the radiator fans, you must save the original unmodified, undamaged EVGA fans in a safe place. Without the original fans, the warranty is void.

The best choice is noctua nf-p12 redux-1700 pwm Airflow 120,2 m³/h 0.09A. I tried nf-f12-industrialppc-2000-pwm Airflow 121,8 m³/h 0.1A and nf-f12-industrialppc-3000-pwm Airflow 186,7 m³/h 0.3A. They connected to the GPU do not want to start at the minimum speed and start closer to the maximum due to the higher Amper. Recommend EVGA 0.08A и redux-1700 closest.
