Hi guys, I recently purchased a new pc with an i9 9900k and a evga ftw3 2080ti. The only thing I kept from my old pc is my soundblaster zx soundcard.

I’m not an audiophile or a soundcard expert so in simple terms, is it worth upgrading to the EVGA nu card from my old sound blaster?

I mainly play fps games so it’s not for movies or music or any of that stuff.

Will I hear an improvement in the sound and mic quality over the sound blaster?

I use the beyerdynamic mmx300 Gen.2 headset.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would stick with the Soundblaster zx for gaming. It offers way more audio features for gamers. The NU Audio card is currently only a Stereo sound card. No surround mode in the software. No Scout mode or Crystal voice software features.

Have you tried adjusting windows default sample rate and bit depth to like 24bit/192kHZ?

    1. Right click on speak iron by system clock
    2. Click on Sound
    3. Playback Tab
    4. Click on Speakers
    5. Click Properties
    6. Advanced Tab
    7. Click the down arrow box to select a new default format
    8. Click apply then OK

I don't recommend going above 24bit/192kHz for gaming.

hey man thanks for the reply.

I already made the plunge and my Nu Audio card is sitting in my pc. TBH i never used surround with sbzx as i play fps games and for positional gaming stereo is the best. That said i dont think its bias but the sounds on this card is way better than my SBZX.
