Ive had my card for over a year or so, an just yesterday I heard loud noises coming from the card, kinda high pitched. Looked at the fans an one of them was spinning really weirdly. This was while the card was under load. There was also a strange electronic like smell coming from it, an there still is today, even while not under load. The smell is pretty strong too. Normally at my fan curve the temperatures would be around 50c, they were at 75c an making a really loud noise. What can I do about this? RMA? Its still under warranty. I could attempt to fix myself but dont want to void a warranty. If RMA how long to get it fixed or a new card in this GPU shortage? Edit: The fan smell is so bad my whole room smells terrible, can smell it the second you enter the room, not just around the pc. Have a definite fan issue. Im really considering taking the gpu out tonight for a much worse card because it smells so terrible. an now later on, fans making a ton of racket at low fan speed an vibrating my whole pc, think some bearings went out on it or something, needs replacing for sure.

Just tried to game on it today, made even more noise than before. Kept slowing down an would suddenly spin to 100%. Watched the fan carefully an it is noticably wobbling, a lot. So I need an RMA or fix it myself. How long would an RMA take, or could I fix it myself without voiding any warranties (I bought an extended warranty on newegg). The card is currently unusable for any gaming, very high temperatures an the fan just screams an wobbles.

RMA..Hard to tell, maybe a month..No. Use CPU Graphics if yours has, borrow a card, buy another card just to get by on in the meantime.

think it could take only a month with the gpu shortage? I have a gtx 1060 already im gonna swap tomorrow since I cant game on this card anymore. the fan swap would be faster, but does that void a warranty (an extended through newegg)? or should I just file the rma?

If you have the same fan as came on the card originally, that would not void the EVGA warranty as long as you don't damage anything in the process..I think it voids Newegg warranty if the card is disassembled/tampered with in any way, shape, or form, but you'd need to check on that..You should be sure that you register the card with EVGA anyway.

thanks, think I will just RMA it. Dont want to risk damaging anything an may be slightly out of the original warranty (not the newegg). I checked evga site an my card still is in warranty, so going that route.

well, I have been trying to submit, but at first it said missing support ticket number as an error. Now it just returns me to the same rma page. I originally had the monitor field missing because I didnt think those were needed, even after filling it out, still returns me to the rma page instead of successfully submitting. Not sure whats going on. Is this because I submitted a support ticket because thats what the error originally said (even tho the field says only needed for cross rma an im just doing a normal rma)? Dont get why its not submitting my information, tried so many times.

I have the RMA now, do I send back the card only? Not the box it came in?

Returning Your Video Card Just send the card itself..Use the original packaging when possible (original packaging will not be returned), placed within a well packed, sturdy, corrugated box. • If not using the original packaging, ensure that your video card is securely packed so that movement is limited within the shipping box. • It is recommended to place your video card in an anti-static bag. • Pack your video card with at least 2" of packing material on all six sides to best reduce risk of damage caused during transit. • Recommended packing materials include: Packing foam, bubble wrap, foam packing “peanuts”, airpacks. Keep all accessories as you will only be receiving a video card in return. This includes, but is not limited to: Posters, Stickers, Manuals, CDs, Games, T-shirts, DVI to VGA Adapters, HDMI adapters, Power Adapters, Low-Profile Brackets, Case Badges, Graphics Card Backplates that were purchased separately as an accessory or given through a promotion, aftermarket cooling solutions, etc. See the .pdf link for more details.
