Alright. I'm out of ideas so I'm posting here for any help whatsoever. I've just build my first rig on a z370 micro and I cant get it to post. At first the issue was a bios (1.05) that was incompatible with my processor (i7 9700kf). It would consistently give me the d6 error and never post which I attributed to the wrong bios. Today I had a friend over and we threw in his 8700k to get the bios updated. At first, it powered on, cycled through some codes, and then his a code (I cant remember whichm though it was probably c) and the memory error led was on. After a few more tried and swapping around some memory dimms, it randomly decided to post, (this is where I was able to confirm the bios version). Like an idiot though, I realised I forgot to extract the file with the bios update in it so I powered down the computer, extracted the file on another device, and then when I powered back on, nothing. So that leaves me here now, every time I power on the board I get a c error, no beeps, and a memory error led. I also noticed that the case fans stopped working, however rgb headers are still working fine by the looks of it. Another point of interest is that the cpu power error led turns on whenever the system is powered down, but turns off as soon as power is turned on. It has been like that since I got the board and I do not know if this is normal. I have tested the power supply on another system and it works fine. I have also tested one ram dimm in each of the slots and it has made no difference. I suspect the board somehow got shorted but I have no idea how. Any imput on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Why not try to clear cmos either by removing the appropriate jumper on your mobo or by removing the cr2032 battery for 30 seconds ?
It should allow you to power on your computer on default mode and then to access your bios to update it with the correct file that you would have put on an usb key...

As snake_solid said - clearing CMOS would be the first step.

There is a red button at the top of the I/O area on the back of the motherboard that you can press to clear CMOS (with the board powered down and power removed would be best).

If the board still won't POST then try then 2nd BIOS by switching the dual BIOS switch next to the debug LED (obviously you will need to have the 8700K installed as the 2nd BIOS chip likely has BIOS 1.05 on it).

If the board fails POST after that then try removing all power from the board, taking the CMOS battery out, pressing the clear CMOS button and leaving it unplugged for at least 15 mins so that all capacitors have drained completely, then try powering the board again making note of all the debug codes as it powers on.

@chinobino -> didn't think his micro mobo would have been equipped with the clear cmos button like the ATX or E-ATX ones... but all you said were the right things to do  So it seems that Grant will have to rma his board...

@Grant117 You may also want to try a different power supply as the 'C' debug code can be caused by insufficient power to the CPU.
