Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/01/08 05:18:46 (permalink)
Good luck on the drops today guys, just some reminders:

  • Don't forget to use an Associate's Code during checkout, it will save you 5% off your GPU purchase, and up to 10% on other purchases.  All you have to do is use the code at checkout (a few useful ones: Mine: 47AQQ6KPU2IZNXY - Enewt's: VDN2319M4O569J4 ) or click the links there & it will make a cookie to insert the code automatically during checkout, then when you receive your card, be sure to register it & upload your invoice from the EVGA order page.
  • Keep in mind if you're ordering a Hybrid card: the tubing is 400mm in length, and the radiator + fan combo is about 56mm thick;  Hybrid card radiator exhaust can be in excess of 34-38C air, having it setup as intake is not recommended even in a CPU AIO/GPU AIO setup, as unless you have a very high core count CPU that puts out more than 400W of heat, the GPU radiator will always be the hotter of the two.
  • If you purchase a card elsewhere, it's best not to remove your notify queues until you receive the card, just to be on the safe side, as if you do remove it then have to requeue, you would be at the back of the line.  Once you receive your card & remove yourself from other queues, kindly let us know which cards you removed yourself from queue for, so that others in those queues know they've effectively moved up a spot.
  • It is recommended that you have, at the bare minimum, a quality 750W (or in my opinion, 850W) PSU for a 3080, and at least a 850W (or in my opinion, 1000W) PSU for a 3090, especially if you plan to overclock your CPU and/or other components at all.  Keep in mind that OCed CPUs quickly go up in power draw in most cases, i.e. a 95W TDP CPU like a 9900K can get up to 170-190W of draw from a simple 5GHz OC like mine.  Even if you're running a 3080 on a stock system, I would definitely recommend against going with less than 750W at a bare minimum, just to avoid any future issues.
Good luck guys, c'ya next week for the hopeful Kingpin drop :-P

Just keep in mind if you have an AIO on your GPU & CPU, you want to have the CPU radiator as in take preferably, and the GPU radiator as exhaust.

Good info, was wondering how I would set it up. My CPUs is blowing out the top, but easily reversible. Would the GPU be ok blowing out the front or should I switch them? That would be more of a pain to do.

EVGA has a handy power requirement calculator at .

I ran the calculator assuming a 3090 GPU, an AMD X570 MB, an overclocked CPU, one SSD and one HD. The calculation came out to 723 watts.
So, . . . , you should be fine unless you have a bunch of drives and other equipment also attached.

That is really not good.

Should never push a PSU beyond 75% rated.

Fairly sure I am not the only only one with that metric.
My Rule of thumb is 60% to be honest.

Agree, specially if you have components that can spike by a lot.

Overclocked CPUs and a 3000 series gpus do spike a lot.

Good morning.  Friday is typically a pretty light and inconsistent day for drops.  And, it wouldn't surprise me if today follows tradition.  That said, I was expecting substantially more voluminous drops this week than what we received.  But hope springs eternal and I'll be here hoping against hope that EVGA still has some gaming goodness for us today.

As of 8:00 am PT Friday morning, January 8, this is the status of the North American queues (bolded font represents movement from the morning of Thursday, January 7; italicized parentheticals calculate the length of movement).

That is really not good.

Should never push a PSU beyond 75% rated.

My Rule of thumb is 60% to be honest.

I agree 75% is the sweet spot on 24-7 use, but if i recall, most PSU are most efficient at 50%.  However, PC enthusiasts have long purchased over-specd power supplies.  My own raw opinion is that the quality of the power supply (efficiency rating and brand) far outweigh the wattage output.  Since I know I'll get some ridiculous, immediate reply on this:  YES, wattage matters and is important.  All I'm saying is that there is a reason EVGA's calculator puts out those numbers.  If you buy a solid (new) power supply with 850w, you should be able to run a 3090.  Gamer Nexus did a vid on total voltage use with the CPU fully loaded along with the graphics card fully loaded.  No videogame comes even close to fully loading a CPU so it's not even a realistic environment, but the test itself showed total voltage.  The only thing is I think it was the previous gen cards.

At any rate, I would recommend the same 75% capacity, so I'd at least want an 850w as opposed to a 750w.  1000w would be best, but now you're talking big, (possibly unnecessary) bucks.

I agree 100% with this.  At 723 watts on a 750, with a 3090...only in an emergency...and only for the shortest period possible.

No, we do not.  We do get a decent sense, after the fact in the afternoon/evening, of whether the day's drop was a "new" drop OR a "straggler" drop (i.e., a drop consisting entirely of cards left over from the previous day(s) drops).

no way to know for sure, but it always feels way south of that doesn't it?

I wouldn't be so sure about that. It all depends on how fast/lucky you are when the queue for the 3080ti goes live. You could be right there at 9am, but if there are thousands of other people there as well (there will be, you can be assured of that) and the server bogs down you might get screwed and get a late time stamp. By "late", I'm talking 9:08. 9:10. Something like that. Given that the 3080ti is going to be produced in very limited quantities, at least for now, don't count on getting one before a FTW3 Ultra. This is going to be one of those queues that advances maybe 60 seconds or less every time there is a drop. And, as we all know by now, these drops don't even happen every week so it could be a while.

~edit

Not trying to bum anyone out here. Just emphasizing the need to be realistic, and patient. Notice my time stamp below for the 3898. My time stamp is about 8 minutes after that queue was supposed to go live and I doubt that I will end up getting that card. If I decide to wait it out, based on how things have gone (I have been lurking here since early September watching it all happen), I don't expect to have a 3898 in my hand until at least May. Hybrids are being made in very limited quantities and the drops are going to be small and infrequent. I will almost certainly end up getting a card somewhere else before I get an email for that hybrid.

Not sure how to contact EVGA regarding my order so I am posting here for suggestions.  I ordered my 3060 TI on Wednesday and the UPS label shows as printed on 1/6, but has not been scanned by UPS yet.  According to the EVGA website, it says it has shipped.  With no pickup scan, I don't see how it could have shipped.  Who can I contact regarding this?

You won't get a queue position.  We don't get that in North America either.  If your auto-notifies appear here https://eu.evga.com/community/myNotifies.asp, then you are in the queue and you will get an "invite to purchase" email when your name comes up in the EVGA queues.  The official EVGA queue lists are not public and nobody knows how many are in the queues or what their specific position is in the queues.  We only can track -- through reports back to this thread -- what timestamped auto-notify registrations have received "invite to purchase" emails.

Best of luck!

Once a shipping label has been printed for an item, it will typically be marked as shipped in a company's system, hence your shipping confirmation. It's likely your GPU is sitting in their outgoing waiting for pickup by UPS. Where I work, we schedule UPS pickups so I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same.

With what I assume to be a huge volume of cards both coming in and going out of their warehouse I'm sure they have their scheduling coordinated with their shippers so that they have everything that's going out accounted for and ready for when those trucks show up.  It would be chaos and a pretty messy delay otherwise.

I've clicked on autonotify for the 3080 FTW3 ultra but i cant see any queue position..

I wish they would give a queue position. I would rather know my standing instead of being in a state of anticipation. It's like wondering if a girl likes you or not. You can either sit there and wonder (like sitting in this queue waiting and not knowing) or you can ask her out and know what's up (EVGA gives you a queue position).

I get what you're saying, but the manufacturer I work for has over 8,000 SKUs and even we don't have UPS picking up orders every single day. That said, I imagine EVGA ships a large supply of items via UPS given the $ value so it is possible they do pickups from UPS more frequently. Either way, you can't say it isn't a consideration.

Just received "notify" email for 10G-P5-3897-KR 9/18/2020 12:56:15 PM PT Yes

I have a question though:

I have option to buy:
1) 3080 XC3 ULTRA (From amazon.com, going to be shipped on monday)
2) 3080 FTW3 ULTRA (From evga.com store)

The price of these are almost the same (by using 5% off associate code).

Which one of these should I go for?

Thanks!

I have had two Amazon gpu orders cancelled....  Also, I prefer the FTW3 Ultra look, but that is just me.  Good luck with your decision and thanks for reporting back to the thread!

Order:  919923

There is nothing unusual about this. Don't stress about shipping details, especially if it's not from the courier. The package has probably been scanned out by EVGA and it's in a pile of boxes waiting for UPS to pick it up. Once UPS has it in hand they will scan it and you will see the tracking info.

Thanks for everyone's responses.  I called and EVGA said that my package did ship and that they have seen the "no scan" problem more and more with UPS.  They said that it may not show a scan until the day it is being delivered and to call them back on Tuesday if it still isn't in showing in UPS's system.

In my case, the label was printed on 1/6 at 4:11pm so it should have been picked up no later than 1/7.

LOTS of movement on the 3070 XC3 Ultra Gaming (3755) today.  I just got my notice and purchased.  Thank you, EVGA!
