Morning everybody.

First of all I wanna say that i did already try to search for the same issue in the forum, and i found several threads already, but they are all pretty old with hundreds of replies and it was difficult to me to understand if a solution has been found before or not. Many threads were ending with dandling solutions or even no solution.

This is the reason why I decided to start this new thread aeger to find a solution.

My board has a lot of issues finding devices plugged on USB3 ports. This is a 100% problem with the 4 ports at the bottom of the two LAN connectors and from time to time it happens with the other 4 ports near esata and PS2 connector.

I would like to know if it does exist any firmware update that could help me fix this. In other threads I found some ASmedia firmware upgrade, but when launched the exe file as admin, nothing happens.

I rellay hope somone can help me fix this.

My setup is:
WIN10 x64 21H1
EVGA X79 Classified
Intel XEON E5-1650 @4GHZ
32Gb DDR3 Corsair Vengeance 2133MHz
nVidia 1080Ti

I’m guessing you’re running the latest bios?

I did also reinstall the ASMEDIA USB3 controller drivers from EVGA site.

I googled around and I found many users from different manifacturers having similar problems so it means that this issue is not due to EVGA implementation but it seems to be an "hiccup" from ASMEDIA combined with Windows10.

Many are talking about a firmware upgrade avaiable for the ASM104X famili of USB controllers but I was not able to find a trustworthy place to download em. More than that is seems that the executable somehow works only on WIN7. Honesly it is no big deal to hookup a spare ssd, install win7 and flash the upgrade, but still the main problem is to clearly understand if it helps with the issue and to find a proper place to download it from.

When I was running my X79, the USB ports were extremely finicky. I would plug a USB device into a port and it would not be recognized. Plug it into another and it would be fine. Sometimes a device that worked before would fail to load at boot up and later be recognized without doing anything. This was the reason I switched to a Dark motherboard. Experimenting with different combinations of devices in different ports, I did have a somewhat stable solution; but the occasional drop out in windows boot up make me retire the board.

That is me in the picture, anyone else ever pet a live Lion?
