Re: EVGA queue updates 2020/10/09 08:07:28 (permalink)
I don't think Jacob knew at that time, it's just common sense at that point because it doesn't matter if the button is broken, you still do just it in case the button works again with a miracle or is fixed. If you spam F5 that's the same principle, nothing tells you that behind the next F5 there will be stock, but you still do it just in case.

For me, the notify option was more to study how often and how much stock is back in order to determine when would be the better moment to stalk the EU Store and F5 the hell out of it, not necessarily to hope to receive the mail in time to get one. I signed up for all 3080 (except the Black) because I thought that some SKU might follow others by a couple of minutes, like the XC3 Ultra could be up in stock then a few min later it would be the FTW3 and I'd be there to get one.
Obviously that won't be how it'll work out, but I'm still glad I did it, even for that reason.
And I hope there'll be an unsubscribe option soon enough so I don't waste too much time for people who want a SKU I don't but that I signed up for.

I recall a tweet by jacob saying they were working on something to help in regards to understanding queue progress, but nothing about how, or what type of info there would be. even if it's a rough ballpark, I'm sure EVGA could offer better info than the google spreadsheets that get their info only from a small group of people who submit their queue times.

There may be a significant wait time for the 3080 depending on how many cards EVGA receives per week since there were over 50 thousand people signed up before the queue even got started. https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/cant-buy-an-nvidia-rtx-3080-evga-has-a-plan-to-help-beat-the-bots

Maybe he knew by Sep 27, and definitely seems by Oct 2 he knew, but wasn't allowed to actually tell anyone about it until it became the official process

50,000 in queue before the system was announced is a big number, might have been optimistic to think it was less than 10k, but still, however many will let the notice time out at least, and production is ramping up, though I don't know how long it takes to make 50,000 GPUs going full tilt.

I don't think the problem is that it would take that long to make 50k GPU's. The problem is if you don't have the chips and other board materials needed - it really doesn't matter how fast you're capable of producing.

that's no solid if it was fair as u think he would reset the queue system and star fresh. who in the right mind would know to press auto notify on launch knowing those things don't work, and he even admitted that the auto notify doesn't work back then and had issues. waiting for next year for people who signed up on the 5th is no fun man. im here with my 970

I get how you'd be frustrated and feel for you.  However, no system is perfect, and this one is *vastly* superior to anything anyone else has implemented.  I'm sure the folks at EVGA are still working on ways to improve it as well and welcome any constructive feedback we have to that end.  They're hopefully working on a more long-term solution since the main reason this one is working as well as it is, is that botters didn't bother to hit the auto-notify button since they don't rely on notifications.  That will change not just for the 4000 launch but for any new cards released at this point - they will program a script to hit that button a hundred times with a hundred different email addresses.  This is also why "resetting the queue system and starting fresh) would not work at all - the botters would get the first 5000 spots in the queue in the first 30 seconds the button went live.  Given that EVGA is showing they're willing to think outside the box already, I am confident that they'll have something even better in place before the 20gb cards or whatever is coming next are released (hopefully before the 3070's for those who want that card).

I didn't have much confidence in the auto-notify button on release for obvious reasons, but I hit it anyway and am glad I did now.  I feel for you, OP and understand why you'd need to vent, but I also 100% disagree.  The new system may not be perfect, but it's a vast improvement, and I'm grateful for it.  Thanks, EVGA!

You still going to get the email though, that's the point of the notification system it will eventually be your turn.

No one here is going to feel sorry for anyone that didn't take 5 seconds to sign up for auto notify especially after 9/17 when you knew this was going to be hard to get.

I bet you if you had signed up say on 9/18 which means it would not be so far down or even on 9/17 you would not be here stating that the system is unfair, don't sell 6 cards to people etc . Is not that you care about others is that you know you should signed up and didn't so now please just deal with it like an adult and wait for your turn , it will come trust me.

Anyone who realized it cost them literally nothing but time to sign up and that the major flaw is the inability to outrun bots and overwhelming demand rather than being completely ineffective conceptually. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My only regret is that I got sloppy and apparently didn't hit notification for the non-OC FTW card when I signed up for everything. Hopefully my 10 am 9/17 signup will get me something by the time cyberpunk comes out. May the shipments be large, I guess.

50,000 people in their right mind hit Auto Notify knewing that even if they never got an email that you had nothing to lose by taking 5 seconds to sign up.

I think it would also be nice if EVGA gave an official estimate on when some models will start to get email notifications sent out. For example I still have not seen an email and I notified on 9/16 for XCS Black. I have read that supposedly those emails are yet to be sent, but nothing official.

I never really seen a company (and they are not obligated to) release queue positions or when emails for certain products are going to be sent, let's be realistic here guys what they are doing and they implemented in such a short time is amazing and is the only company doing it.

I'm sure they can implement an update to the queue or email updates on position but that also takes away from the control that they as a company need to have. Is like asking them how many cards they really get, etc they aren't going to disclose everything.

Think about this scenario they still have partnerships with retailers like Newegg, best buy etc and say they decide this batch it will be for Newegg not email customers , if they divulge information like when stock comes in then people would **** that their emails were not sent out yet Newegg has just received a new batch of stock.

With that said sure it would be nice if they add your spot in the queue notice but I'm not expecting it.

1) 50k might be spread around all SKUs and even between 3080 & 3090.
2) 50k might also be counting multiple times if they are counting by SKUs instead of counting people : I signed up for 4 SKUs. If enough people did this too, it's possible that the number is in fact way lower as they'll be interested in one SKU only.
3) 50K might be counting redundant notifications that were already registered at least once
4) 50k might ALSO be counting EU Store. The reason I'm saying that is because I signed up on the EU Store but when I look on Notification Signed Up, I can clearly see my notification signed being these :
10G-P5-3883-KR 10/6/2020 11:26:31 PM PT No
10G-P5-3897-KR 10/3/2020 1:13:43 AM PT No

I'm sure this has already been mentioned but we have literally been keeping track of this for last 3 days.  The only cards released so far have been the 3080 FTW Ultras.  They have only reached 17th Sept 7:22 AM...
What we don't know fully is if there is 100 people between 7:22-7:23 or 2...

EVGA has nothing to do with that spreadsheet. You will need to connect with whomever was kind enough to build it.

It make take even longer than that EVGA may only get 1000 cards per week for their own site which would mean over a year wait period as it would take 50 weeks, the Radeon 6000 is starting to look like a prospect.

Meanwhile in EU, we're still at mercy of pretty much 1-2 stores per country, who are importing from EVGA, because EVGA doesnt have a EU store :(

So all this queue stuff doesnt really help us

Here in the US, it's pretty much Newegg or Best Buy, unless you're lucky enough to live somewhere near a Microcenter. I've never actually seen anything listed on Amazon as of yet, except for people reselling cards for thousands of dollars. B&H and Adorama are nearly useless in trying to find one.

My signup for the FTW 3080 was 9/17/2020 12:27:19 PM, so I'm hoping in the next few weeks. We'll see. I'm still looking around in the meantime, but bots are still snapping everything up. Once the 3070 drops and Navi is coming out, I think the market will be saturated enough that scalpers can't really buy everything up or control pricing.

Re: EVGA queue updates 2020/10/09 14:48:28 (permalink)
It will be slowest at the beginning.  EVGA is slowly ramping this up and the majority of the signs up are on the first day, followed by the second, third, then it appears to taper off pretty good until into October.   The Google Drive is a good sample of data, but it's nowhere near accurate on the place in the queue.  Presume the majority of the people who are on the Google Drive are those who are active in the forums, so it will be hard core dedicated customers.  The Google Drive will be front end loaded because of that.   EVGA could put your place in the queue on the MyNotifies page if they wanted.  They also could put the last notification sent.  They don't want to.  It will disclose information they don't want easily accessible.  They don't want you to complain if your queue position hasn't moved in days because inventory will come in surges.  It's not a constant flow.  They don't want you to complain they're only selling N to the queue every day.   The queue is an olive branch.  It's not a perfect solution, it's a step in the right direction.  Show you are making progress, not solve all the problems at once.

I don't think the problem is that it would take that long to make 50k GPU's. The problem is if you don't have the chips and other board materials needed - it really doesn't matter how fast you're capable of producing.

Dude, I may respectfully disagree with your (repeatedly) stated position re the "auto-notify" solution, but I have to hand it to you...you nailed your forum name; You are relentless.

I hope you found your card at Best Buy or New Egg during their drops today. They had several EVGA skus on offer. The EVGA "auto-notify" list is just one option for you; feel free to choose another retailer that sells EVGA cards.  Best of luck!

Nah, missed all those opportunities. Have been busy this afternoon keeping an eye on our 2nd or 3rd hurricane of the year unfortunately.

I would be interested in this as well. When Jacob first announced that the notification date shows up in your profile, someone on twitter said they got their 3080 FTW Ultra (10G-P5-3897-FR) on October 7th and they had a notification date of 9/17/2020 7:13 AM. Wondering what notification time is now at the front of the queue 2 days later.

It would be cool if you went to the card on evga site, and it showed you the reservation date of the last email sent. I don't see why not? That's a pretty small update..

I don't think EVGA is going to reveal your place in queue because it would lose potential buyers based off their rank

That demand should go down once the Radeon 6900 XT launches at the end of the month. Not having AMD at the start of this no supply issue is one of the main contributing factors to the huge demand.

Unfortunately, EVGA is damned if they do and damned if they don't. They are trying to get these cards into the hands of gamers as best they can, not everyone will be happy with whatever they decided to do. I signed up for auto notify the day the product page was put up and it doesn't show I signed up on the my notify page. There is no point in doing it now because that queue is insane by now and I went the step up route anyway.

If they decided to create a queue by sign up rather than the auto notify people would still be up in arms. Let say they decided to start this new list last Monday. I was working that day. I work 12 hour+ shifts and I get home to find out this sign up page has been up for 11-hours. The queue at that point would be 5 miles long. There would be people upset if that was their situation. Hopefully EVGA can get cards out at a steady pace. I'd be interested in knowing their production capacity because of that queue is really 50k ppl long, that's gonna take several months I think.
