I've bought from EVGA since the 8800 days.  Who do I turn to now?

I don't think EVGA is out. I think they are switching brands. We are either gonna see intel gpu's or amd gpu's....

I think they are gonna favor AMD. AMD is just pushing too far too fast. the 6900xt has already reached parity with a 3090 in 100 game benchmark. aka win some lose some. but equally. Not to mention EVGA already decided to, extremely late by the way, make x570 motherboards for AMD.... that to me was a huge hint of the change over. So I am not as surprised. I called it for years that Nvidia would end up leaving the graphics business and focusing on AI and server only.... because gamers dont make them as much money as people think. The future battle will legit be AMD vs INTEL in both cpu and gpu.... Nvidia will become an afterthought.

I hope they move over to AMD or maybe even Intel.
If I were EVGA, I would use my weight in the video card market to negotiate good terms with other suppliers.

Whatever EVGA decides, if I need a part, and EVGA sells it, I will continue to buy from EVGA.

The gamers nexus video indicated that it could be possible if they were contacted with good terms from another supplier.

But that supplier would need to contact them to pursue the matter.  Hopefully AMD or Intel will take notice.

I'll likely go Galax or Asus (Preferably Galax)...I will not buy an AMD card or an Intel card (for now...if they start rivaling NV, I'll consider them)

I have had some poor experiences dealing with the tech support side of ASUS.  I have never worked with Galax.
When it comes to price-to-performance, AMD is very competitive with Nvidia, but historically Nvidia does offer a few features that AMD cards typically do not have.  And Nvidia tends to be a bit better with their video cards driver compatibility on the Windows side of things.  Although AMD is much better when it comes to Linux - which may be a factor in the coming years as the Steam Deck has catapulted Linux functionality with games and is continuing to do so at a very rapid pace.  (The Steam Deck is really pretty great)
I suggest it is worth keeping an eye on the AMD video cards, they are really quite good these days.

I bought my 5th and  now last EVGA graphics card (3080 ti) and it will last me for several years.  What I get next is up in the air as EVGA would have been my go to brand. I like their power supplies and actually have two spares.  When I am buying stuff again you can bet I look on the EVGA web site. Where I go for a graphics card is up in the air.

I have had good experiences with Sapphire.  Honestly the EVGA/Nvidia breakup has clinched it for me, and my next video card will very likely be AMD based.  This is as good a reason as any for me to stop using Nvidia based cards entirely, if they are not treating their partners right, then I will not use my dollars to support Nvidia.  Sapphire makes the best AMD based cards.  Although they do not have the same exceptional customer service that EVGA has.  https://www.sapphiretech.com/en

PowerColor makes good AMD based cards as well, their Red Devil series is their top-end stuff.  Here is a link to their stuff https://www.powercolor.com/products?id=1492658578  I have not had personal experience with them for warranty support.

Asus is also not bad when it comes to their products, but I have had poor experiences dealing with their customer support.  Asus tech support seems to lack knowledge and have been extremely unhelpful with issues in the past for me.

I personally hope EVGA decides to work with another supplier for Video cards by the time I need a new card.  I intend to prioritize EVGA products for my next build, and it would be nice to have one of their video cards as well, if they are making them when I next build a computer.

Agreed. I am going to refresh my PSU with them just to give some support. I hope they pick up Amd or Intel GPUs but given what was said to Steve and as relayed by him I have my doubts they will.

I have no idea who to get a card from now. I've been with EVGA since the FX 5xxx series... This news is saddening, and I do need a new card, was waiting for the 40's to drop. Now my biggest question is, do I buy a 30 series EVGA card and risk EVGA running out of inventory before my warranty is up? I really don't know who to go to now. Super sad to see this happen. I understand it completely from a business standpoint, but it's still upsetting.

I'll consider trying an AMD GPU over NVidia in future based on principal, assuming the performance is reasonably competitive, although I'm not sure which board partner I'd use - they all kind of suck relative to EVGA. At this point I see myself sticking with my 3090Ti for maybe a few years at least. Jenson can shove his 4090 up his bunghole. Repeatedly, and vigorously.

Wow, my first card was EVGA and now it's already closing up? This is kind of a bummer, but understandable. To answer the question, Galax or Palit for me probably.

We will be left with Nvidia, or Asus... and maybe MSI...

Honestly, I do not want to buy another GPU unless it's EVGA. I have dealt with ASUS/Gigabyte/MSI/PNY in the past... it was not an enjoyable experience.

I think people are confused. EVGA isn't going anywhere. They got a divorce from Nvidia. The brand is worth more away from Nvidia than with them at the moment. With Nvidia doing some really shady stuff with inventory and price points lately I can't say I blame EVGA for the move. Keep to your core values and learn from the past.

I've always heard the murmurs and gripes for years but never thought much of them. After watching Jays video, and Linus on the WAN show. I'm done with Nvidia. Will get an AMD card from now on, or Intel if they can get things going stronger.

Re: EVGA is out of the graphics card market. Who do you buy from now? 2022/09/16 21:31:04 (permalink)
EVGA had the best warranty coverage & length. There's no alternative in the market to that. Zotac & Palit are offering "3+2" year warranties on Ampere cards to original purchasers only who also register their cards. But Palit doesn't sell to North America. Everyone else I've looked at is 2 or 3 years tops. If I missed one I would love to hear it.

Between the warranty, the excellent NA support, and the hydrocopper blocks tailor made for the various custom PCBs there are now many gaps in the market for anyone looking to buy NVIDIA... and NVIDIA lost a huge reason for people to buy their cards. I refuse to pay $1,500 or even  $1k for a GPU with a 2-3 year warranty. If any vendor sells an Intel or AMD GPU with a 5+ year warranty it's going to automatically be in the top three of consideration even if there's a performance disparity. People will not stop buying graphics cards, but now there is no longer a reason for me (and many others) to stick with just looking at NVIDIA cards.

Edited to correct that Zotac is 3 years in NA, 5 years in Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. So with EVGA's departure nobody sells NVIDIA cards with more than a 3 year warranty in the US anymore.

Probably ASUS.  I think my 760 and 1070 were ASUS cards, and didn't have any issues with them.  But I always hear about how trying to do anything with their Customer Service department is like pulling wisdom teeth.  I'll have to look into Galax, never really heard of them before, but if not one of those two, I guess just straight from nVidia :\

Probably Asus.  Maybe MSI.  GPU power requirements are going through the roof so I'll be paying more attention to the board schematics from now on.

Asus. Much more reliable than evga. Better built... I'm a weekly system builder. Next would be Gigabyte.
Either choice is good but the top Asus card will stomp gigabytes best.

With EVGA out of the picture I might consider AMD. I was really hoping EVGA would be an AMD partner.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Had to correct my earlier post. With EVGA's departure nobody sells NVIDIA cards with more than a 3 year warranty in the US anymore. None have an option for warranty extension either. Two brands sell 5-year warranty cards outside of the US though... some irony there.

Honestly it will probably be NVIDIA. If EVGA can be the biggest supplier of NVIDIA cards and say not anymore I honestly can’t see any other board partner being happy. Not sure though since maybe NVIDIA would make a change. Hopefully for the board partners still with NVIDIA it results in better relationship on the news.

Im a little heartbroken... I have always bought EVGA GPU's and power supplies. I trust them and their products because if ever there is an issue, they stand by their product, something that seems to be lacking amongst other brands. I don't know who get my future GPU business and like others have said here, I am hoping that EVGA will work with team red or maybe even Intel? Either way, I am going to hope that my 3080ti Hydro holds up until something happens. That being said, good on you EVGA for refusing to work with a shady supplier.
