Any takers for the 40 series?

Nah, don't think so. Unless I win one in a giveaway or something lol. I love ray tracing and wish more games offered it...which makes me a little bit impressed with the improvements they've made (or at least promised) in RT with 4k series...but we know how this goes. They promise all this uplift, but when you play the game it isn't there. 2042 for example: RT is basically not present at all, and DLSS at 1440p gives a 0-2% improvement (it's negligible as far as I can tell...I'm not sure it works at all). I still think DLSS 2.3 is a great tech, but only when it works and that seems to be pretty rare in my experience. I'm not upgrading just for 3.0 and a chance that some games do better with RT...especially if I'd have to pay ~$2k for an AIB 4090 from some vendor with no customer support.

Honestly, just to keep things even and hopefully keep prices from continuing to escalate, I'm really hoping AMD comes out with a home run for RT performance on the 7k series. A slight improvement in raster (which they were already doing great with) and a good bump in RT would put them right in line to beat Nvidia. Considering I was planning on skipping this gen anyway, I'd be super happy with that. I hope by next gen EVGA gets back in the game in some form or another, but we'll see.

The RTX 4090 arrives on October 12th priced at $1,599, with the RTX 4080 priced starting at $899 (12GB model) and $1,199 (16GB model) available in November. (source)

So they ARE releasing the 4090 first.

I'm guessing those prices means profit margins are going to be small for AIBs.

I'm sticking with my 3090Ti.

Probably just going to stick with my RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra for a while.
No excitement on my end for a 40xx card ( non EVGA).

I am probably gonna go AMD F&^% Nvidia if they wanna treat EVGA like DOG SH&*.  They don't need my money pure and simple.

Me personally will wait for RDNA3 and see. I don't want to support a company that is doing questionable marketing ploys. Like how they renamed the 4070 to the 4080 12GB version. And to an unknown user you think you are just getting another 4080 with the 02 die. no you are getting the 04 die which usually is reserved for the 70 series of cards at a $800? How do I know. Just look at the cuda cores you lose compared to the 4080 16GB version. you lose 2k cuda cores and the die name. Nvidia has been doing this for a while. Remember the GTX 970 4gb? how about the 1060 3GB version. If best buy didn't tell me that the 6GB version was better for the Asus laptop I would have lost out on performance because they did the same thing with the 1060 as they are doing with the 4080. Sounds to me like they love the high prices. So I hope AMD can deliver because the ball is in their court now. Also if EVGA decides to make AMD or Intel cards I will buy it. I'm going to use my dollar to vote.

If you use my code let me know so i can thank you via pm.

I hate Asus, and MSI has become pretty sleazy, but since I game in 4k, I would like in on that sweet 4090 action, if it's as good as it seems like it might be (will have to wait for some actual reviews and benchmarks of course though).  I might have to bite the bullet and go with an Asus Strix, although I have my eye on Galax.  Not sure how easy it will be to get Galax cards in the USA, though.  What I'd really like is a hybrid or AIO-liquid-cooled 4090, but the only brands that are making them are ones I don't particularly want to buy from though, at so far.

I'll run with my EVGA 3090 FTW until it can't move any more. Then we'll see.

Definitely won't be going with Asus or MSI. Neither has any customer service to speak of, and MSI are outright thieves, replacing NIB RMAs with lower tier products and then refusing to communicate with you after.

Might have to give Gigabyte a look, when the time comes.

I've never owned a Vid Card that wasn't EVGA (since 2006).

TBH i'm more loyal to their brand then I am to Nvidia.
I really hope they consider partnering with someone else instead of closing shop altogether.
It would be a Huge loss to the enthusiast market.  EVGA has The Best customer service and consumer related programs hands down.

I truly hope EVGA works with Intel GPUs, even though they're not up to par with Nvidia/AMD yet.  I'd rather take a small hit on performance for driver stability and stellar CS (EVGA).

Same here. I think people need to realize that intel needs time to make it better. Nvidia was not perfect, and they purchased their way into the market, as did AMD. Intel's first GPU I think is great, and has a long life ahead.

..and Intel has a sh*t-ton of money behind them for R&D.

In all honesty, I have only ever trusted EVGA for my cards. I don't like any of the others and have had bad experiences with them. I will wait until they choose another GPU company. And no matter what it is I will buy.

I'll consider trying an AMD GPU over NVidia in future based on principal, assuming the performance is reasonably competitive, although I'm not sure which board partner I'd use - they all kind of suck relative to EVGA. At this point I see myself sticking with my 3090Ti for maybe a few years at least. Jenson can shove his 4090 up his bunghole. Repeatedly, and vigorously.

I second this .

Although I have a relativly new Evga 3080 12Ggig FTW3 Ultra , but with Evga out of the picture (only for now ...we hope) my next gpu I will looking at AMD .

Yeah. Me too. I switched over to Nvidia because of EVGA back in 2005.

Now? I have no clue which company is even closely on par with them nowadays. Especially when it comes to their customer service and RMA department. I used to hear good things about XFX years ago but i have no idea what their reputation is these days or any other brand for that matter.

Well looks like my next card will be Intel . I can no longer pay for top cards like 3080 and so on . Intel now has what would cross over to 3050 , 3060 , and 3060ti if you can find one .

It just depends on the exact card design. Some companies can have both very good and very bad designs as far as cooling or cheaping out on components go. This dude on youtube seems to know his way around GPUs and had some pretty relevant advice : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ena15TYK4tM
