With EVGA out of the picture I might consider AMD. I was really hoping EVGA would be an AMD partner.

I suspect that EVGA wouldn't be overly excited about AMD either. One of the things brought up was the founders editions with Nvidia undercutting the company at this point. That is after Nvidia told AIBs that founders cards were only ever supposed to be super limited runs. Now they are full lifetime models. AMD is doing the same thing with this generation, so EVGA would be right to be wary of them possibly undercutting as well.

That said, if AMD is much more willing to work with its AIBs, and not play keep away with details that drive business decisions, maybe they will give it a test run.

For me, I will probably look to the next AMD series probably an XFX watercooled version if one gets released.

X399 Designare EX, Threadripper 1950x, Overkill Water 560mm dual pass radiator. Heatkiller IV Block Dual 960 EVO 500gb Raid 0 bootable, Quad Channel 64gb DDR4 @ 2933/15-16-16-31, RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra, Corsair RM850x, Tower 900

I've been trying to figure that out myself.  Every GPU I have ever bought was EVGA.  For my next purchase, it will probably be PNY since I've heard good things about them and they seem to be the very last USA based GPU company left at this point.  Another brand I might consider is Yeston since they make lots of different and unique designs that are much better looking than the black and/or grey desgins of most GPUS on the market, if I can't have EVGA, may as well go for aesthetics.  Of course that's assuming those companies continue making GPUs and don't quit like EVGA did.

But yeah I'm still in shock about it.  EVGA was literally the biggest GPU maker in the USA, according to reports, they accounted for 40% of the market, which is just massive.  That's a big gap to fill and I'm actually kind of worried that next gen might be hard to get in the USA because of it.

EVGA is out of the GPU business, then I'm not buying anymore.

#1 AMD reference #2 galax hof if I decide to go nvidia which I highly doubt I will.  #3 probably asus as they use the highest quality components by far on their pcbs outside of special edition cards.  Most likely gonna waterblock a amd reference if I'm not buying a binned card.

DO NOT BUY A GIGABYTE, ZOTAC, OR MSI CARDS!!!!  Gigabyte is terrible every gen with several cut corners, if you want a thermal throttling 5 slot card, this is your option.  If you want a waterblocked card that performs worse than an air cooled card, this is also your option.  MSI has much of the same issues and just bad engineering overall that causes their cards to underperform with thermals.  Zotac has the worst warranty and customer service you will ever experience along with extremely scummy business that msi, gigabyte, and asus partaked in.  Zotac was by in the large the biggest offender (see nearly an msrp of $700 for 3060's after taxes and shipping).. imo Zotac should definitely not be in business after this next generation is done and gigabyte should be eliminated by survival of the fittest since they've been terrible for years, how they still sell is your problem for buying them or for even contemplating gigabyte as a viable option.  Gigabyte boxes don't even come with a factory seal, if that doesn't help ingrain the idea of them being terrible, then I don't know what will.

-opinion formed from owning+using around 100 cards and taking apart each card.. most brands have good warranties and CS besides zotac; who is downright abysmal, so don't worry much about that.

I just got the last Evga 3090Ti from MicroCenter, it will be my card till it dies or no longer meets my needs. However with how Nvidia treated Evga I will go with a AMD card or hopefully maybe in the future whatever Evga has to offer if that even happens.

The EVGA GPUs are on sale at Micro Center right now, usually the lowest price. The quality is not good and some of them look ugly with that big EVGA logo on them. Like the stupid big EVGA logo on the keyboards.

Founders edition from NVIDIA/AMD or ASUS are the top 2. The founders cards are simple and look great.

Asus, maybe MSI. I have never bought anything Gigabyte, but maybe I will have to give them a try.  I got a new ASUS Z690 motherboard in the box here for my next build, so mostly I'll be looking at ASUS.

I will ALWAYS buy my PSU's from EVGA though, had very good luck with those. (unless they decide to stop making those too....)

I noticed NVidia have started a special event "#ProjectBeyond 40 Hour Countdown | Tune in 9.20.22 8AM PDT" countdown on twitch:
https://www.twitch.tv/nvidia
May be 4000 series launch?
Screw them. They can launch that where the sun don't shine.

Honestly, as a system builder of 20 years, and top 20 overclucker, I just lost all enthusiasm and interest in Nvidia based products.

Will I get a 4000 series? maybe, but not really going to rush to get them anymore.

I think I'll go ahead and hope my card lasts while I skip a Gen or two. See where things shake out. Of course, best laid plans and all... You never really know what lies ahead.

Probably Nvidia will be announcing their own custom cards as opposed to founders cards, to finish off the AIBs.
Thanks Nvidia.

I’m still going to buy a 40 series card just like I’m going to buy a Radeon 70 series card too. It’s a shame that my usually preferred vendor is no longer going to be in the market however.

I’ll probably go with a Gigabyte or ASUS card for Nvidia and as for Radeon, I must say I’m really impressed with what XFX has been up to this generation. This RX 6900 XT has been great, so much so that for the first time since the excellent HD 7900 XT I have an AMD card in my primary daily driver gaming rig. I’ve owned quite a few of the current gen 6000 series card and while they were good (especially my Sapphire card) none of them wowed me with build quality and temps the way this XFX card has.

Intel i9 14900K ...............................Ryzen 9 7950X3D
MSI RTX 4090 Gaming Trio................ASRock Phantom RX 7900 XTX
Samsung Odyssey G9.......................PiMax 5K Super/Meta Quest 3
ASUS ROG Strix Z690-F Gaming........ASUS TUF Gaming X670E Plus WiFi

Sad to see EVGA pull out, but AMD would be a real nice landing should they wish to do it.

I suspect that Nvidia needs them and doesn't currently have capacity to do it themselves right now.  Plus, then they don't have to deal with returns/refunds/rmas/etc.

EVGA apparently had about 40% of the US NVidia market. I really hope this hurts NVidia badly. Really badly. Their share price is already down 50% in the last 6 months, so shareholders are not going to be happy about losing an AIB that was responsible for such a large portion of NVidia's sales. I hope people speak with their wallets as a result of this.

If the 40 series market is anything like the 30 series market, then people generally won't care about the AIB as much as getting a card.  30 series you couldn't always be picky.  Since there's no current gpu mining, it may not be as much of an issue next gen, though.

Off topic

Saddened and disappointed that some of the people at EVGA who helped me HERE ON THIS BOARD, over the phone, and elsewhere will be facing uncertainty in their futures.

This seems a particularly unfair dessert for those who exerted HECULEAN efforts on at least two occasions, going far far beyond what a customer in trouble could have expected or even hoped for.  The epitome of Excellence in Customer Service.

I have been buying EVGA since I began building computers (and they began making components) in late 1999, exclusively an EVGA consumer for the components they make since the demise of BFG in 2012.  I can only hope they reverse their decision not to re-enter the graphics market soon-ish either with Intel or AMD given Nviidia being off the table, but chances look dim.  As BFG found out, Graphics card business accounts for a great deal of passive marketing and site traffic for company products and signing off on cards is a much shorter trip to tumbleweeds and crickets than they may think.  Graphics buzz keeps folks like Steve Burke and JayZ talking about you and builds and keeps your name alight (literally) inside the machines we are likely to think about buying other parts for...

On Topic

Probably switching to AMD short term since - as stated elsewhere on this thread - it is insanity to spend 1 to 2K$ on a component that generates the heat and voltage a video card does with at best a three year warranty.  My personal research confirms the comments above that 3 years is the max available for US customers direct from the AIB maker, which with Nvidia being a US based-company is a slap in the face given you can get a FIVE year warranty in the EU...  A warning to PNY users that their warranty is not reliable and anything that mentions lifetime _IS_ the  production lifetime of the product- meaning that if they stop producing it three weeks before you bought it, it is :  -poof-.  Nothing.  Familiarity with that company's behavior in courts in NY and NJ is... depressing.  God save you if you have one of their cards with that warranty.

Short Term Choice #1)XFX AMD,  #2)any other card with more than 3 years direct warranty whether I have to buy it or not regardless of the chipmaker

Further out, will like to see what Intel offers, or hopefully, something shakes out at EVGA with a new management group backed by investors and an aggressive approach to Blue or Red teams for favorable pricing and planning environments.

EVGA is and has been rated the best for warranty, customer service and overall purchase option for Nvidia cards in the US.  Google any of those questions. Miss you already.  :(  ~Al

I truly hope EVGA works with Intel GPUs, even though they're not up to par with Nvidia/AMD yet.  I'd rather take a small hit on performance for driver stability and stellar CS (EVGA).

Well I have a blocked 3090 Ti and a Kingpin HC in the closet with extended warranty, so I was prepared to take a wait and see approach. This nails the decision down for me. Going to just sit back and watch this one from the sidelines. With all the leaks it looks pretty likely Nvidia is posturing for the normal 50% more money for 8 % increase of performance. I really Hope AMD has a good launch of the 7000 and Nvidia is sitting on a huge piles of 4090s that aren't moving through and after Christmas.

After this last Series defiantly Asus. EVGA 3090 had to do 4 RMA the 5th one stuck and sold it got an Asus 3090 never had an issue still going strong. But all things aside EVGA was my first Choice than Asus. Zotac is not bad had a couple cards from them before never had any issues.

Probably ASUS but I’ve had good luck with MSI. The 30xx generation taught me to look very carefully as the power components being used though.

Probably Galax even though they're hard to get stateside (but the HOF seems the only real alternative to the Kingpin).

Barring that maybe a Strix or Aorus card?

EVGA was literally the biggest GPU maker in the USA, according to reports, they accounted for 40% of the market, which is just massive.  That's a big gap to fill and I'm actually kind of worried that next gen might be hard to get in the USA because of it.

Before this EVGA announcement, NVIDIA already stated that they planned to constrict supply and trickle out cards in order to increase demand and increase prices. EVGA could now be treated as a scapegoat, but I think the outcome was going to be the same regardless.

Intel would make the ideal partner for graphics cards if they could just get their act together on discreet graphics. Especially good for Intel to have the best AIB to spread their product and reputation. The fastest way for Intel to grow their market share.

Then EVGA could negotiate a good contract so they don't ever have to go through that Nvidia situation again. Win-win for both.

EVGA has earned my respect enough for me to try an Intel gpu that they sell.

Re: EVGA is out of the graphics card market. Who do you buy from now? 2022/09/20 08:45:18 (permalink)
Cool GTX

EVGA was literally the biggest GPU maker in the USA, according to reports, they accounted for 40% of the market, which is just massive.  That's a big gap to fill and I'm actually kind of worried that next gen might be hard to get in the USA because of it.

@ Arctic_Slicer
Source of that 40% of US market?   that is interesting number, just not sure where it came from

Seen that a number of times, I believe it's also in the GamersNexus and JayZTwoCents videos after meeting with EVGA. Note that it is 40% of the US NVidia market.
