Hi,
I recently purchased a hybrid water cooler for my 1080ti FTW3 edition.
I installed the cooler exactly as the packaged directions specified. I watched a couple videos on how to properly install it as well. After the install, I put my card back into my system and booted.
Immediately upon booting there was a crackling sound at the radiator and I smelled burning plastic. I called EVGA to begin the rma process.
On disassembling my card again I noticed there was a severely burned wire in one of the cooler shroud’s LED connectors. Possibly where the defect originated.
EVGA recently emailed me and cancelled the RMA of both the graphics card and the water cooler itself, stating that the burned wire must have been damaged by myself and is therefore not covered under warranty. I emailed back the employee to ask he reconsider this.
My question is, what can I do from here? I obviously did not damage the card by installing it exactly as the directions specified. The burned wire in the shroud should attest to the fact the cooler was defective.
Thanks so much for the assistance
